The fogs lights on the W124 would make a pretty good ersatz DRL.

So now the question is...how do you get the fogs to operate
independently of the low beams?

BTW, I haven't yet picked up my W124 so I'm still pretty much
clueless...

All of my US delivered '87 Mercedes have fog lights that are independent
of the low beams.

A ha, so it is. Thanks for the head's up, but their procedure seems
awfully complex, relative to what I had in mind. I might just wire a
simple 20 amp 4-pole relay in there, energized by some low amperage
keyed 12v source, and call it good.

I did notice in the w124 CD set there is an entire writeup (82-0071)
how to convert a w124 to day time running lights

using mercedes OEM equipment.

Has anyone converted their US-spec 124 to operate with daytime running
lights? I'd like to convert my Euro headlights to operate with just
the city bulbs, or the full parking light array when the key is on. I
assume this isn't too difficult, but don't want to spend a lot of time
reverse engineering, so if someone has some experience I'd appreciate
the advice.
