My 06 Dodge pickup is the same way as is my parents' 06 Chevy HHR. You have
to either open a window or slam the door with EVERYTHING YOU'VE GOT!!

lower the pop-up roof unless you opened a door or window first.

Try copying the two link lines into a text editor like wordpad - then
re-assemble them there without extra spaces and line feeds, EOL, etc.
When assembled, copy and paste into the browser --
Nothing hides in the text editor -- you see all.

The original copy delivered to MY mail reader has the link in one line.
Your question with the copied link is folded. It may be a problem with

Curt - I also have problems with those. Two solutions: on eBay stuff
just
copy the item number [from after the 'z' to before the '00' I think -
play
around with it] and paste into the search; for other multiline items
that
don't all copy I do a click on what will copy, then when it tells me it
can't find it I go back and copy/paste the rest of the item onto the
back of
the first. A bit clumsy, but it works.

I have one that has a minor flare. riginal trans 379,000miles. I
also have 3 more original with over 250,000, no sign of impending
doom. I have 3 others with mileage between 65,000 and 192,000 that
work great. They can be expensive to rebuild/replace. I know of one
that was shot at 78,000. This I believe due to teenage son being

It's not. What I've done is to just barely loosen the hinge bolts
and then tap with a soft mallet to get it to scoot little by little.
It's still not easy.

The door MAY become bent OR the hinge can move a bit so that the top (or

alignment data (for each chassis model) in the TDM in section 60. Later

Re: [MBZ] Door seals

2006-03-02 Thread Curt Raymond
Good point, the seal looks pretty good but seems to be squashed down in just
the upper corner of the door. The door *looks* fine, the gap between door and
body looks fine and is even all the way around. How would I know if the door is
bent? How would such a thing happen and how would I fix it? Block the door open
with a 2x4 and lean on the top a little?
As I say I stuck a piece of zip tie under the seal, so between the seal and
the top of the door, in the same plane as the road. That seemed to cut the
noise down which makes me think I should revisit the gap at the top of the
door. How do I adjust that?

It ought to be a straightforward job. IIRC, a putty knife and
some weatherstrip glue are both required to do it. Are you
_sure_ your seals are shot? If they're not all torn up it could
be that the door is misadjusted, or the window frame area has
gotten a bit bent and no longer presses the seal against the
door frame properly. It's pretty sad to replace a seal only
to find that it didn't fix the problem.

So, how do the seals _look_?

Isn't it that German's "v" is pronounced "f"? So we always
pronounce it wrong, and ought to have anglicized it as you
have spelled it, but have kept the original German spelling?

Hey gang,

How hard is it to replace the door seals on an '85 190D? I'm getting a huge amount of wind noise and a not inconsiderable amount of wind in my left ear while I'm driving. I wedged a piece of zip tie under the door seal one day and that seemed to reduce the amount of noise and wind until it fell out the first time I opened the door...

I see that Rusty has the seals, is this a fairly easy DIY job?

Usually it's door adjustment and NOT the door seal that's the problem
when there's wind noise. I've never had to do door seals on a 201. I
have heard that you REALLY must get factory seals if you are going to
replace them. I have dozens of posts about aftermarket door and trunk
seals being unsatisfactory!!

How hard is it to replace the door seals on an '85 190D?

It ought to be a straightforward job. IIRC, a putty knife and
some weatherstrip glue are both required to do it. Are you
_sure_ your seals are shot? If they're not all torn up it could
be that the door is misadjusted, or the window frame area has
gotten a bit bent and no longer presses the seal against the
door frame properly. It's pretty sad to replace a seal only
to find that it didn't fix the problem.
