My son and I rented a Caprice and drove it all over the west starting in

such a boat.

After I got rid of my last MB I put them on eBay and

It's amazing what idiots on eBay will pay for stuff.

I just found a Karmann badge from the restoration of

I thought of that after I sent the post - the fact that he was probably
using it for work.
I have a lot less qualms with folks driving trucks if they actually need
them most of the time.

So my gripe may be applied to the other millions of Americans who derive
their toughness from their pickup.

My favorite was the ad campaign that actually came right out and told us
that if we drive their super duper big truck, we're tough.

Red Wing shoe's ad that states: As tough as the guys that wear them is
more tolerable. But the driving of a large vehicle requiring toughness?
Heck, I think driving a small vehicle takes toughness.

such a small amount of effort and money on the part of MB, the good will of
getting something to celebrate driving our cars for long distances is well

Thats only ~310,000 miles, my 190D should hit that within the next year or so.
I think its 287k right now. Lessee, 55 miles a day, 550 a week is about 26400 a
year just to commute to work...

Anybody says the 190Ds can't do high mileage hasn't driven one.

Of course its back in the shop next week, the rear end is still not quite
right. Indy says he thinks he knows what it needs...
I'm still pushing for subframe bushings but he says its probably not that. He's
going to do some heavy duty diagnosis before he throws parts at it.

I'm sure you can find an odo somewhere with about that mileage to fit whatever
you buy
That 87 300TD I mentioned a week or so ago was just taken home by the owner
with no repairs. He still doesn't know what he wants to do with it but will
call my nephew if he decides to sell it.
