Sounds like riding/driving a “real” Hummer. I see the ones that were designed for consumer use and laugh. They’re so far removed from the real thing it’s laughable. Anyone here ever drive a deuce and half any distance? It's like herding wild goats in traffic , handles like you are pushing 6 concrete blocks with a piece of rope.. and you need a back brace and ear plugs for a week after you get out.. I can't see why the attraction to ever own one. According to wikipedia, "Gasoline may be used only in an emergency because it does not properly lubricate the injector pump. A fellow I knew way back when had the opportunity to drive something like that. He said they had attached a big plywood circle to the steering wheel so that you couldn't put your fingers around the outer edge. Apparently, if you hit a rut it would take the steering wheel away from you and too many people had broken their thumbs when the steering wheel spokes caught them by surprise. In my late teens I had a buddy whose dad was in some sort of vehicle business, in which this truck was to play a role. One night we borrowed it for a joyride. I recall him coasting it out of the driveway so we wouldn't wake anyone. Being a city kid at the time, I had zero driving experience on any sort of vehicle, but that was fun.
