Re: [MBZ] Removing 240D rear Seat Back
You'd really have to crush a W123 very badly to rupture the tank since it's inside the "no crush zone" of the passenger compartment. This is true of well for earlier models as the floor of the turn folds upward and the tank itself is in a very strong "box" of frame members. The tank behind the seat was a big safety thing in those days, and car fires in Mercedes after collisions are very, very rare. Many thanks to Dan, Kaleb, and others. I looked under the armrest but missed it. Re: [MBZ] Removing 240D rear Seat Back
124 also has the fuel tank in trunk behind the back seat. Probably about the safest place to put the tank, between rear wheels and big crush area behind it. A collision severe enough to damage the fuel tank in that location is likely going to be too severe for any passenger to survive, so if they are made into crispy critters after the collision, they probably won't feel it. - Max Charleston SC ___ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com

Re: [MBZ] Removing 240D rear Seat Back
If there were bolts in the trunk they would be sticking into the fuel tank. The only bolts on the rear upper seat cushion in a W123 are the outboard ones and the center one below the center armrest. Once these are removed you just have to lift up sharply to disengage the hook along the top of the seat frame. -D > On Mar 20, 2018, at 9:44 AM, Andrew Strasfogel via Mercedes >wrote: > > Check in the trunk for protruding bolts if you haven't already done so.. > > On Mon, Mar 19, 2018 at 11:47 PM, Kaleb C.
