Re: [MBZ] W149 Evaporator Leak

2014-10-11 Thread Dan Penoff via Mercedes
This is the stuff I used:

http://www.cliplight.com/automotive/super-seal-additives/super-seal-premium/

It came highly recommended by a number of people over on Benzworld, one of
which lives over in St. Pete. I spoke to him at length about his experience,
as well as calling and speaking with one of their support people (an engineer,
not a call center person) about the process and expectations for what it would
and wouldn't do. They were very helpful.

I paid around $40 on Amazon for a can.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks Dan. My 124 AC leak will need attention in the spring if not sooner.

Prior to sealing the system it was leaking down enough to be noticeable
performance-wise in under a week's time.

If anything, at least the rate at which it was leaking has decreased if it
hasn't stopped completely.

$40 of sealant and $40 of R134a versus an evaporator and goodness knows how
many hours tearing the thing apart was well worth it, so far.

Yes, I thought about that. I'm taking a so far, so good approach.

Absolute worst case scenario if it goes south is that it stays cool for a few
more weeks until our winter kicks in. Then there's no pressure to get it
done.
