That looks a LOT like the Dodge WWII field ambulance we had in our
Civil Air Patrol Squadron when I was in HS. Not fast, would would go
anywhere.

Don,
That would be the M43...The same basic truck with a bit more wheelbase
and an enclosed body...Like you saidSlow as snails. Don't sink one
in a mudhole. It will be better left there for a bridge piling as a D9
will have a rough time dragging it out...LOL

Oh God but this reminds me of when my wife and I moved to
Washington DC in the mid 70s. We first lived in the city. When I
went to register my 73 IH Scout I discovered that by DC government
definition it was a commercial vehicle and hence could not be parked
in residential areas or driven on boulevards. Or something like
that. It was the only vehicle we had. In fact it was a personal
vehicle which I had ordered new and specified no back seat so we
could carry our fancy bicycles out of the weather. Sorry, no back
seat - it's a commercial vehicle. I remember taking a half day off
from work to pursue the matter at the appropriate DC government
offices certain in my heart I would find the right bureaucrat and get
a waiver. Ha. We just ignored the law for the year before we moved
out of the city and were not hassled.

This sort of legislation must be especially difficult to design
now what with all the odd mixes of vehicles there are.

CA is strange that way too. P/U with a bed top is a car. P/U without is a
commercial truck and costs about 600.00/year more to register it.

Re: [MBZ] What is a Truck? (OT)

2007-02-01 Thread Kevin
Nah, not that much. They just assess a weight fee. For a 7640 lb truck, it's
$350. About $50 less for a 6260 lb truck, and about $50 less than that if you
get one that is under 6000 lbs.

Don't ask how I know this :)

OK is the opposite - their are a LOT of small businesses created
here because teh tags are considerably (half?) cheaper for commercial
vehicles than for private vehicles. A four door pickup with leather
seats is almost mandatory in the posh neighborhoods here --

I bet you are like Moses and the Red Sea when you drive that thing in

ExactlyI get the occasional idiot that doesn't want to budge. I
have a 2 blink rule..My signals blink twice and the lane change
happens...Causes the occasional rude single finger and horn blowing but
no one ever really argues.Putting bigger(39 instead of 35) tires
on it tomorrow so the effect will be better.LOLOL
