Re: [MBZ] duplicating keys build card
This link isn't exactly what you need, but I guess the info is there, if you can figure out which number is which -- perhaps the codes are listed in L-R, Top - Bottom sequence to match the card? Nah - that would be too good to be true. I gave up on having dup keys made a long time ago. The never worked smoothly, when they did work. I was thinking that the lock cyl. was worn. Got a new key from the dealer, and the lock worked lke new. I only get keys from the dealer now. It's worth the extra money and hassle. Also, I emailed MB USA for my build card and they sent me a bad copy of the record. There is no legend or anything as to what the fields mean. I can find my serial number and engine number but not much else. Is there a web page or something that would show how to figure it out? Guess it would help if I included the link -- http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/Speedway/5350/mbcodes.htm On 9/12/05, OK Don [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: This link isn't exactly what you need, but I guess the info is there, if you can figure out which number is which -- perhaps the codes are listed in L-R, Top - Bottom sequence to match the card? Re: [MBZ] duplicating keys build card
GEorge: Hie thee hence to your local MB dealer and order a new key. Should be around $20, and will come from the factory in nice new steel. This is the ONLY safe way to get a key. A good MB independent mechanic can also order one for the same price (or less). Please do not use brass keys, they shed crap in the tumbler (it's hardened to resist picking), and it will gum up and fail. A new tumbler was $60 a couple years ago when I got the one for the 220D.
