This new library supports FTP in addition to the HTTP support in previous releases as well as new support for file-based proxies, keep alive connections, and other new features. HTTP proxies should now automatically be detected on MacOS systems. I want to look at the library - please, please? It's a substack of the tools stack, and it's our own little "open source" project. Want a new URL feature or to fix a bug? Help yourself. Of course you also still have the option of sending it in to [EMAIL PROTECTED] and we'll take care of it. And if you do make changes, please do send them in so that we can merge them into the standard version of the library. Scott Raney wrote/ schreef: Support for URL access other than "file:", "binfile", and "resfile" have been moved out into a script library named "libURL" that you must start using before you can access these types of URLs. I don't like this. And I think it's a little inconsistent too: you are backward compatible to HyperCard and OMO, and a version later of MC, the urls don't work anymore. I think that you have to find a solution around this, because this ain't neat anymore, because I now need two lines to get url access instead of one. Another thing that's nice is that the (non-existing) font "System" is the system font, set in the Appearance control panel (on Mac at least), instead of always "Charcoal". But the problem is that you use this also for the tabs in the Properties palette, which can get really ugly when the system font is set to "Sand". Solution: In the Appearance control panel there are 3 fonts set: 1) a big font (standard: Charcoal) for headings and menu's 2) a small font (standard: Geneva) for explanation and labels 3) a 'show' font (standard: Geneva 10) for lists and icons I'd call them: 1) ".system_main" 2) ".system_exp" 3) ".system_list" Regards, Sjoerd Archives: http://www.mail-archive.com/metacard@lists.runrev.com/ Info: http://www.xworlds.com/metacard/mailinglist.htm Please send bug reports to [EMAIL PROTECTED], not this list.

Hello list members. Have you downloaded 2.4 a1? If not, you must check it out. Great new features plus it runs on OS X. I have it up and running right now! Get you copy today. -Mark Talluto Mark jumped the gun here a little bit (what do you guys do, camp out at the FTP site?), but here's the scoop: MetaCard 2.4 alpha 1 is indeed now available for Win32, MacOS, and Linux Intel in the directory ftp://ftp.metacard.com/MetaCard/2.4/ This is an *alpha-test* release, which means lots of stuff is still broken and/or missing. People who aren't comfortable out on the bleeding edge should probably wait for the beta-test period. But basically anyone who's already using Mac OS X qualifies and they'll probably want to add this new engine to the stuff they're playing with on OS X ;-) This engine uses the same file format as 2.3.2, so as long as you don't use any of the new features (like storing images or hidden text in fields), you'll be able to continue work using 2.3.2 if this engine has a problem you can't get around. Note that this *won't* be the case for the beta test releases because a format change is required to support a couple of new features that haven't been enabled yet. As always, be sure to read the README file for important instructions and warnings. Have fun!
