Re: [meteorite-list] Unusual inclusion in Muonionalusta slice
Hi Mike, Now that does look unusual...never seen that before...reminds me of some lunar meteorites! Would be most interesting to get some anaysis done on that. I would have thought some one researching iron meteorite formation and differentiation would be keen to have a look at it. Let us know if you find anything exciting about it. Re: [meteorite-list] Unusual inclusion in Muonionalusta slice
Hi Mike, that looks really unusual and interesting. But I can see no chondrules. I think there was a hole in the iron (rendered troilite - similar Mundrabilla). In this hole, then sand and sediment has been deposited. After the cutting of the iron, it looks like an inclusion. But this is only a guess. Yes Mirko that did cross my mind tooperhaps Mike can tell us if that was possible as he knew the piece before cuttingwas the inclusion exposed enough at thge surface for that to have happened? Hi Graham, yes it is open in the front all the way to the surface. So it could be tightly packed sand or soil. Re: [meteorite-list] Unusual inclusion in Muonionalusta slice
Now I see the evidence, I have the other slices on Ebay and I can see the meteorite acted like a scoop and then in the slice where it appears to be a round inclusion, that is where I took notice of it. You can see the photos here 230692562951, 330632442737,23069255 these are Ebay items for sale so sorry if this looks like a sales gimmick. I didn't even notice the same look in these other slices until we started talking about how this might have happened. Thought you might have something special there for a while Mikestill interesting to contemplate the meteorites journey though as it weathered away and was probably transported by glaciers gradually filling in the worn away inclusion.
