Just to make sure that it's not somthing simple...

You used cvsup to get a full local cvs tree.
After that you check(ed)out/updated your source in /usr/src from that?

- Robert

Yep,
I used the following cvs-src-file:

# Defaults that apply to all the collections
*default release=cvs
*default delete use-rel-suffix
*default umask=002
*default host=cvsup.no.openbsd.org *default base=/usr
*default prefix=/usr
*default tag=OPENBSD_4_5

# If your network link is a T1 or faster, comment out the following line.
# *default compress

#OpenBSD-ports
#OpenBSD-all
OpenBSD-src
#OpenBSD-www
#OpenBSD-x11
#OpenBSD-xenocara
Then I did this:

cvsup -g -L 2 cvsup-file-src

My dmes shows:

Re: Linker errors I don't understand

2009-10-14 Thread Christian Weisgerber
Philip Guenther:

This happens at least on amd64 and sparc64, but not on i386:
  ---
  cc -std=gnu99 -O2 -pipe -Wall -W -o .libs/tiffmedian tiffmedian.o
  -L/usr/local/lib -L../libtiff/.libs -ltiff ../port/.libs/libport.a -ljpeg
  -lz -lm -Wl,-rpath,/usr/local/lib
  /usr/bin/ld: ../libtiff/.libs/libtiff.so.38.2: invalid string offset
  3503345872 = 4739 for section `.dynstr'

Offset beyond end of section? Looks like libtiff.so.38.2 is corrupt
to me. I would remove all its objects and rebuild it and see if the
 problem persists,

The problem is reproducible on two archs. I don't see where
corruption could occur.
... It doesn't happen on alpha.
... It doesn't happen with jpeg6. Interesting.

  This popped up on i386:
  ---
  cc -O2 -pipe -g -o .libs/epeg epeg_main.o -L/usr/local/lib
  -L../../src/lib/.libs -lepeg -ljpeg -Wl,-rpath,/usr/local/lib
../../src/lib/.libs/libepeg.so.0.0: undefined reference to `no symbol'

Weird: if I'm reading the ld source correctly, the code to look up a
symbol by name was passed a NULL pointer. Again, a corrupt library
 seems likely.

This was the only weird fallout from a full package bulk build with
a jpeg update I'm working on. Rebuilding epeg just ended with the
same error. I have now removed all packages from that machine,
rebuilt and reinstalled libjpeg from scratch, and now epeg builds.
Very strange.

Re: New functionnality for authpf

2009-10-14 Thread BARDOU Pierre
I would be hard to ask my boss to hire a developer, since with my script the
solution is working.
I'll think to OpenBSD people before discarding our old hardware, anyway.

My script loads the rules once, and modifies the table within the rule.
When the user disconnects, its IP is removed from the table, and its
connections are killed with pfctl -k.

By the way, your idea of include statement is very good, and doesn't need any
further coding of authpf.
I'm going to test this right now.

Thank you for the precious time you spent on my problem !

 Hello,

It would be nice to do group based rules instead of user based rules.

I made this using a script used as shell for the user, which lists the
groups of the user, and add them to a table named like the group using
 pfctl and sudo.

I can give it to you if you are interested.

But I think it would be better to include this in authPF, and by the
way it doesnt seems too difficult.

Unfortunately, I dont know how to make this in C. Someone interested
 in doing this ?

Ignoring the fact that it's better for you to prepare money (or some
equivalent) to hier someone to do that work. You need it, then either
you implement it, or pay for it. For example, you could donate some
hardware OpenBSD need - see the www.openbsd.org/want.html .

Now, for the request itself, you should clarify exact behavior you want:

- Should the rules loaded only once, or every time user logs in? (The
real fun part here is detach policy)

- Maybe it's simplier to have /etc/authpf/groups/$GROUP/ directory with
authpf.rules in it, and make /etc/authpf/users/$USER/authpf.rules be a
soft link or contain include statement? The latter allows you very,
very much flexibility.

- Maybe more, I do not want to spend more time that I better have spent
for polishing my own patches.

Routing firewall generated packets

2009-10-14 Thread Mentesan

Hi,

I have a branch office Firewall that also acts as a smtp relay for the
internal network, the system has 3 Internet connections:

1 - DHCP (default gateway)
2 - Fixed IP ($embratel_if)
3 - Fixed IP
4 - LAN

The default gateway is the DHCP interface. I can route LAN traffic to
any of the Internet Links as desired, that is ok.
My problem happens when I try to route the smtp traffic from the
Firewall itself trough other interface than the default gateway.

I've configured the following rules:
---
nat on $embratel_if proto tcp to port smtp - ($embratel_if)
...
...
pass out on $ext_if route-to ($embratel_if $embratel_gw) proto tcp to
port smtp

---

The route-to rule routes the packets as expected, but the outgoing
packets doesn't have the source IP changed. It goes out by the right
interface but with the wrong ip address (the IP of the default gateway).

How can I get this setup working?

Thanks in advance,
Fabio Almeida

 1 - DHCP (default gateway)
 2 - Fixed IP ($embratel_if)

It goes out by the right
interface but with the wrong ip address (the IP of the default
 gateway).

How can I get this setup working?

You didn't mentioned version of OpenBSD you're using - 4.5?

If I understand you correctly, you should change your nat rule to:

nat on $ext_if proto tcp to port smtp - ($embratel_if)

Remember that pass ... route-to routes the packet on the $ext_if
interface, and NAT occurs _before_ stepping through filter rules. So the
packet is on the $ext_if interface there too.

Re: ZTE-MF626 USB Modem

2009-10-14 Thread Sergio Andrés Gómez del Real
Thanks for the reply.

Indeed, I use usb_modeswitch under Linux, it is, however, quite just
for Linux, cause it reloads a certain kernel module. With GENERIC
kernel, usb_modeswitch does not even recognize the device. However,
compiling it (the kernel) without umass support, that is, the device
being ugen, it does.

Now, when I boot GENERIC with the modem plugged-in, then I get the
microSD that is 'inside my modem' (not the cd-rom device) recognized,
but no modem...

If any idea would be wonderful, and sorry for my horrible english.

ssh: connect to host lilium port 22: Connection refused

rdist runs this command:

if you need bacula 3.x on 4.5, probably the easiest way is to use the

Apparently the same happens with FreeBSD 4.9. Some BSD make

If you feel like playing with experimental stuff, here's a
trivial utility to control aucat volume:

http://caoua.org/alex/obsd/aucatvol.tar.gz

$ aucatvol
usage: aucatvol [-c chan] [-f dev] vol

 -f dev
aucat midi contol device, default is aucat:0

 -c
client number (default is 0) to change the volume.
Client numbers are persistent, ie if you run og123, it will
tend to get always the same number

and vol is the volume with the same units as in the -v
option of aucat. The volume is persistent too; ie clients
tend to keep their volume accross restarts.

As you can see, the problem is the From field. There is no hostname
here. So, a MUA can't answer to it.

If you send a mail with : echo hello world | mail

smtpd currently does no content inspection. However, even the most
basic SMTP implementation needs to parse message content, eg. to
add missing domainpart to From:, add missing Date: or Message-Id:
or to strip Return-Path:. So, we need to come up with a solution

compiling it (the kernel) without umass support, that is, the device

OpenBSD already does this modeswitch dance automatically for loads of

it would probably already be supported...

You need that only in an MSA, not in an MTA. My MTA package doesn't
offer that either, that's why it uses some other software as MSA
which adds all the required headers if they are missing (a decent
MUA doesn't need any fixups, but you can't rely on that as there
are obviously other programs that submit mail).

OpenBSD's ksh does not support that syntax for 'for':

for name [in word ...]; do list; done
For each word in the specified word list, the parameter name is
set to the word and list is executed. If in is not used to spec-
ify a word list, the positional parameters ($1, $2, etc.) are
used instead. For historical reasons, open and close braces may
be used instead of do and done e.g. for i; { echo $i; }. The ex-
it status of a for statement is the last exit status of list; if
list is never executed, the exit status is zero.

I second on that one : FluxBB (which is based on PunBB) may be a good
choice. It only includes what is really needed in a public web forum,
and nothing else (for exemple, it does not includes a private messaging
feature), so it is not as bloated as other forum engines might be, and
it even works with PostgreSQL (by this I mean it is not limited to just
 MySQL...).

But it's also somewhat hard to maintain from a sysadmin point of view.
You have to modify the base source code by your own hands if you want
to add some feature; the idea behind this is that you are forced to
know what you do to add something that may be broken or insecure, so the
community does not give you any patch nor automated process to modify
 the base source code.

Something that really bugs me about web software is how they limit
themselves to MySQL. I chose PunBB because it supported SQLite and
had a solid module base, along with a builtin update manager.

For OS forums, you could write support for your chosen DBMS into it
and submit a patch. For closed source forums you're screwed.

And if they really piss you off, you could always write your own.

But yeah, I agree, OT.

I cannot figure out what is wrong with the following code

  #! /bin/ksh
  for (( i=9; i0; i-- ))
   do echo $i
   done

  output:
  syntax error: '((' unexpected.
  why?

 try:

 #!/bin/ksh

 i=9
 while [ $i -gt 0 ] ; do
 echo $i
 i=$((i-1))
 done

Or:
for i in `jot 10 9 0 -1`; do
  echo $i
done
