I'm not Tanvir, but I think the T60 is similar enough for this to be
relevant: I run my R60 with bsd.mp with one modification - 'enable
acpi'. Makes the machine a lot more responsive. With bloated X stuff
like KDE, OOo etc loaded to makes a huge difference.

I'm using OpenBSD 4.1 with a modified kernel on Lenovo Thinkpad T60
1954-PJM as a desktop OS. Here's a list of things that work:

dvd works
sound works
video works
wifi - I only tried g and it works
usb works
x and touchpad. work

acpi does not work.; maybe in 4.2 :)

Let me know if you need more information.

Sorry to hear.

I know it went into the xray machine. ...

It's fairly common for them to get grabbed right as they leave the x-ray
machine. The laptop goes through, then the queue of people stops and
your computer moves on without you.

I don't put mine on unless there is a clear path for me all the way
through or the waiting area is fully enclosed. The TSA circus is just
that, a circus, and makes no improvement in any aspect of travel, let
alone security. And actually it appears to increase the probability
that my baggage or its contents get ripped off.

I refuse to be rushed in the queue: I've got 2-3 hours before each
flight thanks to the 2000 coupe d'etat.

Now with that tale out of the way, what's good for laptops these days?

I have been pleased with the PowerBook G4 and displeased with the
MacBook Pro Duo core. The latter is hotter and consumes almost 2x the
power.

-Lars

The TSA is pleased to announce that I am a dumbass.

In other words, I left it at the checkpoint, and they kept it under
lock and key until I called to report it missing.

Still, I got some good advice on new laptops. Sorry for the noise.

You won't get a real serial port, but on the other end you will be
able to run windoze, OSX, OpenBSD all a the same time, which is pretty
neat...

Two fingers on the mouse pad, and click. Problem solved.
