Re: [Mobile.AI] Two Android Doubts
No sir, In my phone, default Apps are situated in Alphabetic order in Page 1 2. 3rd page contains some games installed by default. Rest of the 3rd page and remaining pages contains 3rd party apps situated in their installed order not in alphabetic order. I think this style may differ with mobile companies. --- For latest software updates, job alerts, tech updates and more at http://talkingnet.blogspot.com Facebook: http://facebook.com/sinoj.vr Twitter: @sinojvr -Original Message- From: anil kumar Sent: Saturday, October 04, 2014 8:51 AM To: Dedicated AccessIndia list for discussing accessibility of mobile phonesand Tabs. Re: [Mobile.AI] Hey folks do u miss your symbian phone?
Whatever additional features Androit may offer, Symbion will remain predominent in our memory as far as accessibility and ease of use is concerned for a VI user... Some of the major issues with Androit phones which bothers me a lot are: 1. I can not use it with single hand as in the case in my Nokia N-79. 2. Typing long messages and sending it to multiple recipients is always a challenge in Androit. Specially, when I type a msg and scrol my 700 contacts for selecting 50-100 recipients out of them. Re: [Mobile.AI] Hey folks do u miss your symbian phone?
Yes very much. This is so because; the ease and total control which you could get in the symbian phone is not possible in the Android phone. The option key, the menu key and the arrow keys give you full control over the symbian phone. The typing eas in the Symbian phone is wonderful. In the symbian phone the full phone could be operated with one hand with your single thumb, whereas, in Android you require using both hands and more fingers. Some say that they do everything just with one hand, but that is an exception and not a rule. The main problem with the android phones is that the location of different buttons such as delete button and more options button in different operations is not fixed, and you take a lot of time to locate them. Further more, many of the buttons are not labled. The number of screens also add to our problems, All these problems are not there in the Symbian. Professor Shyam M. Re: [Mobile.AI] Hey folks do u miss your symbian phone?
My Nokia N79 got permanently damaged last month. Though I am using moto g since last 4 months, but I haven't gained full confidence to make it as my primary device. I managed to get a nokia C5 and loving it. The ease of dialing numbers on Symbian, writing messages, adding multiple recipients to message, using it single handedly, using it perfectly at crowded places, using it as quickly as a sighted user could do and knowing the status of battery and signals are some of few features those completely missing in android. I can not use my android as faster as a sighted user can, while a Symbian phone I could operate faster than a sighted user. I think it is true sence of accessibility. On 10/4/14, Shyam M. I suppose it is not really the platform we should be struggling for, rather it is keypad versus touch interface, so symbian is not really the question but the touch interface.
