hi Prerna,
good to see you taking your first steps in reaching out to the group.
we all have at some point or the other found ourselves in places we
never thought we'd be in.
there are many of us here who have dealt with acquiring blindness
later in our lives and have received unconditional support when we
have asked for it.
as for your previous corporate profile, it happens to be one where we
have many successful individuals, with varying degrees of blindness,
working in multinational companies.
like Amar and the others have said, once you've decided how you want
to take your life forward, there are many of us here who can connect
you to people to guide you, if you so desire.
in most any other ways as well, you will find many willing hands
extended your way.
all the best.

Well, this double tapping and holding is a trial and error method and most
of the time it does not seem to work. Some times it happens by fluke.

Hello, forwarding messages on whatsap on IOS is challenging. I would
suggest:
1. double tap and hold the message you want to forward.
2. slowly move your finger upward and you should find the pop up menu.
However, if the message is too long you may have to try three finger swipe
up/ddown in order to correct the focus. I have noticed that small messages
do not pose much trouble.

In IOS kindle following are the useful commands:
Three fingers Swipe right or left to go backward and forward respectably.
2 finger swipe down for continuous reading.
Double tap with one finger to access the menu, from there you can go
to section or to a specific page, bookmark etc.

[Mobile.AI] Kindle app on iOS

2016-08-06 Thread George Abraham
Friends,

When one buys a book on Amazon and downloads and starts reading the same
using the Kindle app any idea how can efficiently navigate backwards an
forwards within the book? To a novice using the Kindle app, possibilities
appear to be very minimal.

Experts can either write to me replying to this mail or if you like call
me on 9810934040.

Thanks!

Hi Chandrashekhar,,
The link of NDTV news seems to be breaking when you receive it given its
long length. The site sharing the OK Google commands list is
www.ok-google.io

yes George, it is available on the app store on your phone. i got it
from there yesterday. it can be founnd under AIPOLY Vision and it is
the only resullt that appears.
it is interesting to use. the colour recognition leaves much to be
desired when repeating the task with a second recognition request. it
continues giving the same colours it did the first time. unless i did
something wrong and missed a refresh like option. but, the switch it
recognized just fine as Harish mentioned.

Subject: Re: [Mobile.AI] Getting Started: iPhone 6S

Sir,

Also, if you don’t want to type the code each time, and your touch ID has also
been configured, use it each time it ask for the code. Please put your finger
(which was used at the time of configuration) on home button for 3 sec and it
should get unlocked. However, that when you switch off and switch on the phone,
only Passcode will work and no Touch ID.

Below are some useful gestures for VO users:
Swipe left/right with one finger: move to previous/next item on the screen.
Double tap: activate the item in focus.
Swipe up/down with one finger: moves between the previous/next navigation item.
Hold with one finger and navigate the screen with other finger clock wise or
ante clockwise: selects different navigation settings (Roter items) such as
Word, character, lines, headings, speech rate, etc. EG: if you select “Speech
Rate” and then perform up/down swipe gesture, the VO speech rate will be
adjusted. Similarly, if you select “Character” and then perform the swipe
up/down command, the VO would read character by character the item in focus.
Three finger double tap: toggles Voice Over speech. Please note that it only
turns off the speech and not the VO.
Three finger tripple tap: toggles the screen curtain. This is handi when you
don’t want anyone to see your screen and still want to continue working with VO.
Swipe up/down with three finger: scroll back/forward in a long list/page.
Tripple click home: toggles accessibility option selected. Please note that you
may need to first set the default accessibility settings for Home button in
Settings>General>Accessibility and set it to VO.

With best regards,

Dear George:

Congratulations and welcome to the family of iPhone users! Please see my
comments below prefixed with Vasu:

"I came home and switched on the phone and the phone told me that I should
enter the 6 digit code when I switch the phone on for the first time. I
tried various things in terms of tapping, sliding and swiping my fingers
but could not find the alphabets. Only numbers were to be seen."
Vasu: That's correct. you will only see numbers on lock screen. When you
hear a number, you can double tap.

1. The screen is off (nothing to be seen)
Vasu: Use 3 fingers tap thrice in quick succession. This will turn off
screen curtain.

3. Need to type the pass code to proceed further.
Vasu: swipe to number you need and double tap.

Feel free to contact if you need any further help. BTW, you should check

Vow Vasu! The 3 finger turned off the screen curtain indeed. But it also
turned off the speech?

[Mobile.AI] Getting Started: iPhone 6S

2015-11-01 Thread George Abraham

Hi folks,

My name is George Abraham. I live in Delhi NCR. I am a communicator and run
an NGO called Score Foundation. We are better known as people behind the
Eyeway project.

I purchased an iPhone 6S yesterday. The shop keeper registered the phone
with Apple. He also activated Voice Over. Then I also got him to activate
my pass code with my finger and along with a 6 digit pass code.

I came home and switched on the phone and the phone told me that I should
enter the 6 digit code when I switch the phone on for the first time. I
tried various things in terms of tapping, sliding and swiping my fingers
but could not find the alphabets. Only numbers were to be seen.

As I continued tapping and swiping, the screen too switched off. What has
confused matters further is that pressing the home button thrice does not
alter Voice over.

Now I have situation where

1. The screen is off (nothing to be seen)

2. Voice over is on

3. Need to type the pass code to proceed further.

Help needed.

Thanks,

George
