Most of us do struggle to invoke reading granularity if we are to read

It is in local context menu in kit kat but invoking it has been a tough

as swiping.

However, I have found a way out
Which I think can benefit some of us.
I have assigned the local context menu to the experimental talk back
gesture of double side tapping.
Now, I can invoke local context menu by double tapping on the side of
the device instead of performing difficult up right gesture.

It can be done by going to:
apps\settings\accessibility\talk back\settings\manage gestures
I have kept the sensitivity to touch at the lightest level so that it
does not interfere in normal handling of the phone.

Please give it a try and discuss.

ok but just ask your sighted people if they can c something on screen
cause the default configuration on screen filter is 48% so if they can

screen filter and then u will be able to configure screen filter the
minimum configuration is 1.8%.
sheades also is a good app but even with its minimum configuration
your display can be seen.
the only drawback with screen filter that i have found is on some

Gsecond gen keyboard)

Dear all,
I have completed the Explore by Touch tutorials with some difficulty,
but I hope I will get the hang of the gestures with experience and
practice.
Anyways, I am still at the phone setup stage.
After choosing my phone language as English, United Kingdom, and a few
other things, I was asked to select my Wi-fi. I choosed my wireless
network and proceeded to enter its password. I successfully got the
keyboard launched, but very strangely, instead of showing normal
alphabets, Talkback kept saying dot when i slided over any of the
keys.
SO, what is the default keyboard in Motorolla G second gen? Am I right
in guessing Google Keyboard?
What is this strange issue? What is its cause and could someone
suggest a possible solution?
Sorry for my stubbornness in trying to avoid sighted assistance
wherever possible.

Hi Kapil Ji,

1. Android One Phones clame to provide you the Pure Android Experience
with minimum customization's which result in better accessibility also.
2. Since Google is controlling the Hardware specifications also for
these

phones, you can expect better performance on such phones compared to
other phones available with similar price tag.
3. Even if you get some better Android phone in terms of Hardware
specifications on a similar price, receiving updates is by no means
guaranteed on those phones whereas, Android One Phones are sure to get
the updates, at least the next Android Version which is currently
roomered to be Android L.
4. By late December, Google is supposed to roll out more Android One
Phone with more partners joining in and we can expect phones with
better

hardware and a slight rise in the prise too but the cost will be less
compared to other Android phones and hardware will be more better.

Conclusion: If you are planning to get an Android phone within the
price

tag of 6 to 8K, then give first thoughts to Android One phones before
any

other phone even if that phone runns the latest OS and has better
hardware spects. Further, if buying phone at this stage is not a
compultion, then wait till December and you might expect some really
cool

stuff.

With best regards,
Satguru

Well, I think now there are more options beyond the Moto seies from
Motorola. Besides, the Moto G is discontinued in India as of now, and
Motorola is expected to launch Moto G 2 pretty soon. Other than that,
Xiaomi has this new launch called the SXiaomi Redmi which is even
cheaper than the Moto E and comes with much better specifications. I
am not sure Moto E is actually worth the money when you have other
options in the similar price range with better specifications. The
Zenfone 5 from Asus is another option that one can consider. It comes
in with terrific specifications, and the 8 GB version is available for
1, and unlike the Moto G, it has Micro SD card support and you can
put in a card up to 64 GB. So I would suggest you weigh your options
among Asus Zenfone 5, Xiaomi Redmi, and the upcoming Moto G 2 if your
budget is under 12000. By mid September, Samsung and LG are also
expected to come up with a few launches in the entry/mid range levels,
so it is a good idea to wait till then. If you are an existing Android
user, may be it is a good idea to hold on till the launch of the next
Android version that should happen some time in the next couple of
months, and before the end of the year, we should have more options
running the latest version of Android.

besides that mostly both are equal.
if you ask me what to buy then i will suggest you go for moto e,
affordable price and nice mobile, really...!

Hi,

The app is not available for downloading on Playstore and the link in the
mail from Harish sir would allow you to download the *.APK file (Android
installer) and you can copy it to your phone/Memmory card and running the
installer would show you the normal actions as you install any app from
Playstore. It would ask you for the App pppermissions and clicking on
"Install" button should start the instalation . There no separate settings
that are required to be changed. However, the app has its own settings
which you would need to set after instalation.

Friends
I have tried this GPS app and I can certainly recommend it. It is the
best
GPS app I have come across.
It is generally accessible. However, if you check the accessibility
option
under plugin, the accessibility experience becomes simply wonderful.

It works both in online and offline mode. You can update the maps
directly
from the app. There is turn by turn navigation and autocorrection of
route
is also available.

It also has a built in compass. I tried it yesterday and I can say I
love
it.

Warmly

Hi, yes it is available. First switch it on in settings general and siri.
Tap and hold the home button for few seconds and release. After you hear
a beep, start speaking to your siri.

Hi

It may either be a hardware related issue or driver. Get it checked by
your vendor. Maybe a firmware upgrade would help.

orSamsung

Nikita,
I use an iPhone 4S and with iPhone 4S, the difference from iPhone 4 is
that
it has support for Siri; where you can ask a question to your phone and
you

get an answer; You mamy ask something like "What's the time?" or "What is
local weather?" etc. I think, the other difference between all these
phones

is hard ware and iPhone 5 is the latest from Apple.

As far as use with VoiceOver is concerned, you should be comfortable once
you are used to; YOu don't think, there will be slow down for us to use
computer with a screen reader as compared to a sighted user, right? So
it's

same way for phone too. I know a lot of totally blind people who use touch
devices quite well. Even, they do a lot of emailing, surfing etc.

Fleksy is an app that makes your life easy for typing. it does have a
prediction capability.

As far learning time, it depends on your aptitude, if you decide to learn
it quickly, you will be able to learn fast, otherwise, it can take years,
it depends on you. One website that can come handy is
http://applevis.comthat has a lot of resources for blind and visually
impaired iOS users.

Hope this helps,

Dear List members,

Warm greetings .

Actually I will be shortly buying a smart phone and therefore needed a
frank opinion on my following queries

what is a better option amongst IPhone 4, 4S, 5, Samsung S3 or Samsung
note 2.
for us what is the actual difference between the above 3 models of
IPhone that is 4, 4S and 5? is this difference justifiable for the
cost differential??
I understand that for operating the IPhone, with using voice over, 1
has to double tap on the icon so does this reduces the spead of using
the IPhone by a Visually impaired when compared to a sighted person?
how long does it take to actually learn using a touch screen phone
like the one I have mentioned above I have never used a touch screne
phone before?
how do you rate the quality of talk back to voice over?
any other phone in this category can I consider?

your advice in this regard is highly appreciated

Thanks and warm Regards,
