[MMouse]: WoW hall show
I went to the WoW show last week, as well as the show at the Crystal a couple of months ago, and I'm glad I went to both--they mixed up the set list a lot. If I recall correctly, the Crystal show was every song off of KILAS, plus a few others. The WoW show had maybe five KILAS songs, plus Randy Describes Eternity, Stop the Show, Kicked it in the Sun, In the Morning, a Love as Laughter (I mean L/A/L) cover and the real kicker--they played "Car", which I've never seen played live before, and the entire crowd sang along to the first verse. Doug sheepishly retreated from the mike and let us sing. He had the biggest grin on his face--it must be an incredible feeling to know that a whole room of people cares deeply about a song you wrote. As for the Delusions guitarist, he seems to be getting the hang of it. He seemed a little out of place at the Crystal show, but much better at the WoW show. He still doesn't have the fluidity of Doug's playing, which makes his lines stand out, rather than blend in nicely like on the album, but he's getting htere. I still think they should turn the slide guitar down though. Love, Dan Dan Reynolds http://gladstone.uoregon.edu/~bankrupt "Hey, what indian tribe occupied southern california? Re: [MMouse]: new pavement
well, i love it, 'cause i still don't get most of the songs. that's after four spins so far. for the moment I dig songs 1, 3, 11 a whole fucking lot already. I plugged in the earset last night, and as it does with almost any record it gave so much more pleasure. (...uhm, yeah.) anyway, at least listen to track 3 on yr headset. amazing sounds in it, though not too much in yr face. I think the production is very subtle. I like it. cheers, john patrick

dear list, i was chit-chatting with some people in irc yesterday, and when modest mouse came up one person said that he liked them until he saw them live, and the other said they gave a show where he was and they were womanizing dicks. does anyone who's seen them live have any perspective on this? -mle --- Get free personalized email at http://www.iname.com

i was chit-chatting with some people in irc yesterday, and when modest mouse came up one person said that he liked them until he saw them live, and the other said they gave a show where he was and they were womanizing dicks. Womanizing dicks?? I've seen them live 3 times... ...the first was with Red Red Meat and Rex in Detroit... ...a buncha rednecks were hasslin' them to get off the stage and Isaac almost jumped off the stage to attack 'em. The second time was in Bowling Green, Ohio with 764-HERO at a club with the shittiest PA system known to man... ...I met Jeremy at this show and he was fairly quiet and apologetic about the sound and the fact that they were late. The third time was in Toronto with Caliphone and it was by far the best MM show I've seen. Isaac jumped off the stage and told some guy that he was gonna kick his head in or something like that... But I've never, ever seen MM to be womanizing dicks... ...just drunk, fun-loving guys. Shit, I act worse than Isaac when I drink... [MMouse]: A little note...
Good morning! In reference to my last email: I didn't mean to imply guilt or innocence. The accusations against Jefferson were initiated in his time, and weren't proven until recently. Any accusations made against Isaac are just that - I actually have no opinion on the subject. I'm more interested in how accusations affect the thoughts people have about the work. Does the work stand alone, or is it judged with it's creator? ta- DAVE!!! Re: [MMouse]: Basic rights - liberatarians
As a tie in to a controversial MM issue, the Declaration of Independence was written by a man who raped slaves. (There can't be consent when you own your partner - Sally Hemings wasn't allowed the "right" to decline.) Well I wouldn't call this a fact. You see, it has never been conclusively proven that it was actually Jefferson who was involved. The real facts were largely exaggerated or just plain lied about by socialists in a transparent attempt to make it seem like Clinton isn't a bad guy. However, I wouldn't be surprised to find that Jefferson was actually involved. Also, If he was, what makes you say it was "rape" and not a consensual sexual relationship? Documented evidence or a desire to make Jefferson look bad? Does this fact make that document any less valid? No. Ernie Fata
Re: [MMouse]: jerx
When I saw them Califone in Albuquerque, I thought the guys were very nice. Isaac was in a terrible mood, but Eric and Jeremy were quiet and polite and nice to everyone who talked to them. They apologized for not playing long enough (they let Califone have a really long go at playing a set... ick!. And you know what? They didn't even drink that much. Re: [MMouse]: A Thought on Indie Snobbery
Um, yes actuall a lot of people read that wrong. I didn't say I was higher than anything. I'm saying that's why a lot of people don't like it when a lot of people start liking a band that they've liked for a long time. It's all because that person has gone out of their way to hear something that isn't like everything else. Also, if you will note, I said I was GENERRALIZING and it was your own fault if you stereotyped yourself. thank you Liz

In a message dated 6/10/99 8:42:00 AM Mountain Daylight Time, [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes: it's very obvious that that nigel guy who produced ok computer was involved...that's probably why it sounds so weird. it's kinda spacey and clean, which i think is due to him, and that style seems to work better for radiohead than for pavement. i guess they have to try different things to avoid an artistic stagnation, though. what does everyone else think? my love to you all-kirstin. I'll disagree here - I really, really like this album. And be sure to get the "Spit on a Stranger" EP, too, because the extra four non-album tracks are really good. (But boy, am I pissed that I couldn't find the CD-ROM anywhere. Feel like yelling at Matador about the freebie distribution.) Loring Wirbel Monument, Colo.
