[MMouse]: MM content, really
I talked to Isaac on Saturday and he said he'd just finished his record, gotten his mouth unwired, and is looking forward to going home and having a home for the first time in a while. No more gigs out while in Chicago. I can't say I'm not disappointed.
[MMouse]: Calgon take me away!
First, the obligatory Modest Mouse content: HEY RUSSTER! I have a version of "Third Planet" from 3/10/99 in Lancaster, PA. I videotaped the show, but it's mono and the bass distorts at times. E me. I mean, therewas a little too much going on in this movie that was outside the bounds of believeable reality. You probably didn't like The Matrix either. Hmmm. I would be very sad indeed if every movie that graced the low-lit screens of my local maximulticineplex was believable. I think I experience enough reality every effin' day. Call it escapism, I need an excuse. Fight club was like people getting their asses kicked continuously. It just didnt seem like you could really sift anythingmeaningful out of it. Are you sure you didn't accidentally walk into "Bats" instead of "Fight Club"? You couldn't 'sift anything meaningful' out of a film that rages against the societal and cultural demands of consumerism today? You found no message about this generation's need for materialism and instant gratification? All you saw was 'people getting their asses kicked?' Wow. Unreal. Baby, I'm amazed. And last but certainly not least, I would like to complain about the number of complaints that are addressing the posts that are posting e-mails about the posts with messages about posts that don't mention Modest Mouse. That's just wrong. So there you go. every night is hockey night, *phiL* = __ Do You Yahoo!? Bid and sell for free at http://auctions.yahoo.com

You found no message about this generation's need for materialism and instant gratification? All you saw was 'people getting their asses kicked?' Wow. Unreal. there was definitely a message in this movie.to say it was nothing but people getting their asses kicked is to compare it to those awful Van Damme movies or something...(i feel like i may get ripped for that one. hah.) someone brought up three kings too. this has me totally confused. the only reason i saw this movie was because i had a free pass. I thought it was ok at best. without spike jonze, it would have been hurting. Maybe I'm exaggerating...I thought it was slightly entertaining for a free movie. But no way was it better than american beauty or fight club. A few newspapers around here have been calling american beauty and three kings the most inventive movies in a long time. Maybe I just liked american beauty alot more than anyone else, but three kings shouldnt even have been mentioned in the same breath. and fight club had alot more substance than three kings. maybe im crazy. every night is hockey night, very true, especially when the flyers have three shutouts in a row. 4 days till being john malkovich- *mer*

I thought it was slightly entertaining for a free movie. and fight club had alot more substance than three kings I'll hold my tounge..but when twenty thousand people die because of a promise that someone who bears any connection to me(however passively) reniged on...I consider that substantial. And your mom would drink until she was no longer speaking, and dad would dream of all the different ways to die, each one a little more than he could dare to try. someone brought up three kings too. this has me totally confused. the only reason i saw this movie was because i had a free pass. [MMouse]: Re: Brian Wilson/Beach Boys
yeah I was really into them when I was little like back in first grade I made all these tapes of their "sillier" songs like "help me rhonda", "i get around", etc. i didnt get _pet sounds_ until a few years ago at the beginning of high school but that is one incredible album in terms of production especially. "god always knows" is absolutely my favorite beach boys song. "sloop john b" is also a pretty awesome cut. i'm glad someone shares an interest in them. they did some incredible stuff with harmonies and pop song structure. and brian wilson is a very astute lyricist. even if he wrote every song about surfer girls and diner food they would still be an incredible band. tyler
Re: [MMouse]: eMoTV
yeah i caught that last nightit's so weird seeing them live so many times and then seeing them on mtv!@! i liked the video tho, because they just put on a great performance, and some of that was caught on tape. man, the mousethat would be awesome... that was a neat video, neat song..but when ash came on i think i got more excited. that video made me physically ill w/ all the twisting and turning and stuff though. i think modest mouse on 120 minutes would be neat, in part because i'm not scared of days of the new fans going "wow this mouse band is really cool!" didn't happen with built to spill on conan, that flying indie show didn't get any new sleater-kinney or gbv fans or anything, so i mean even if they did go so far...i wouldn't be scared about it. does modest mouse even have any videos anyway? - amy "lately i've been feeling a lot of pressure to do work." [MMouse]: american beauty
i was reading through the list tonight and i saw that everyone was talking about 3 kings, fight club, and american booty (sorry, that's a stupid joke, don't pay attention to that). anyway...i've seen american 2 times so far and it's quite possibly one of the best things i've ever seen. it seems that of all my friends i'm the only 1 who likes it. where was i going with this? oh yeah, i found it odd, though that the character i identified with the most was lester. odd, because i'm a 19 year old female but he made too much sense to me and it was painful to watch him. oh geez, i need to shut up. kt ___ it's easier to drink on an empty stomach than eat on a broken heart. joan of arc (the band)

Re: [MMouse]: american beauty/run lola run
anyway...i've seen american 2 times so far and it's quite possibly one of the best things i've ever seen. I'm with you. I've seen it twice, and I would see it five more times. I definitely think it's one of my top five movies of all time. That and Run Lola Run are two of the best movies I've seen in a long time. and Say Anything of course. oops, i gave my opinion. looks like I'm getting too egotistical... *mer*
