yeah rent is pretty average up there. i think our rent was $500/month for
a two bedroom and my mom was the caretaker. the kinda crappy thing tho was
that we lived on the crosstown which isn't the safest neighborhood in
minneapolis but it was one of the nicer apartments near bosson terrace so
oh well!
i'm not surprised it's vegan-friendly. my mom's friends were really
ecclectic people and some of them were vegans..my mom worked at this big
book warehouse place and her and her ecclectic friends would all go to this
vegan restaurant right down the street :P pretty nice..

in response to this thingie:
Right. For one, you're mostly talking about St. Paul. I don't mean to be
picky, but Minneapolis and St. Paul have completely different
atmospheres.

you're right. st. paul has always seemed more aged than minneapolis,
cozier, and certainly more industrial...still tho, they're twin cities and
you know everyone from minneapolis goes to the state fair and winter
festivals and what not so let's not be TOO picky ;)

For two, they don't build the ice castle every year. In
fact, they haven't come close to building a huge one in years.

SINCE WHEN? i don't ever recall a time during the winter when it wasn't
upbut my imagination is fuzzy and i haven't lived there in three and a
half years.

 And I
really don't want everyone to think that all Minnesotans sit around and
look at ice all winter.

they don't? i feel like an ass. that's all i ever did.

I would completely disagree about the State Fair
too. It's disgusting and there are so many better things you could be
doing on one of our ten thousand lakes or at a great concert.

i lived in a central location near most of the lakes in minneapolis..or at
least close enough so that i'd rather spend one day of the year at the
state fair, ya know? i mean it's hot, it's disgusting, but it's fun and i
love that kinda stuff. concerts are nice and all but you can always go to
a concert throughout the year. i'm sorta old fashioned, sorry.

- amy, who thinks if you lived away from such a wonderful place for so long
you'd be over exaggerating its wonderfulness too ;) (please note i may feel
this way because i moved from a metropolitan area to a population of 3600
people. heh.)

ahhh new hampshire.
im from claremont nh a small city of about 13,000 and dropping.
we are hated by every other town in the state because we sued the state
for more school funding. in order to do so we had to prove that our
schools were shitty. we won this lawsuit but we didnot reap the
benefits. so now we are that town that fucked everyones school budgets
up, plus we are known for shitty school and there isnt much we can do
about it. yay. we even got picked on in the wall street journal.
someone told me theres a really high inbreeding rate in claremont. i
worked at the burger king there from 94-96. believe me, they are right.
but claremont has a few perks. its the home of the super indie label Red
Carpet Ring, which i am a big fan of (for obvious reasons) and uh. hmm.
we have a super walmart? its open 24 hours, and seems to be the place to
hang out at 3 am. but maybe not. woo.
alas alack i will not be a resident of claremont much longer. oh i will
miss that sad orange river that flows through our park, infested with
rust or something else unimaginable. i will miss the tampon factory we
all hold so dear to our hearts. and tin man, i believe i'll miss you
most of all.

I'd just like to say...that there is a Wilmington, Delaware, as oppose to the
more familiar Wilmington, South Carolina, and yes, Delaware is a state, it's
not a part of Canada (much to popular opinion). It's south of Pennsylvania.

I'm dying from only listening to you...
and though I smile...
it's just because I want to like you.

Good deal. Thanks for the information. I should've just checked the
Suicide Squeeze page before inquiring on the list. Official release date
is March 28th.

It's my understanding that once in a while when bands are signed to
larger labels, their previous releases on smaller labels are, in one way or
another, blacklisted from re-release. If that were true, it would explain
why Suicide Squeeze was throwing this out just before Modest Mouse's first
release on Epic. It was merely an assumption on my part since the timing
of these re-release is conspicuous.

Not sure if I detect sarcasm or not. Either way, it's a *good*
annoyance. Now I can remake the CD with three CD-quality tracks to replace
the three poppy, hissy, metallic vinyl tracks.

I think the songs are amazing, and I think the vinyl sounds fine when
played on a turntable. It just seems that vinyl loses some of its audio
quality when converted to an .mp3 or .wav, which may be more attributed to
my bad encoding skills than the vinyl itself. Besides, I don't have a
turntable player in my car :)

Either which way you look at it, I'm excited about the release.

I believe the Up compilation includes the DJ Dynomite D remix of
"Whenever You See Fit." The 12" (and upcoming CD EP) includes that remix
along with the original 14 minute song and a second remix called Sientific
American.

sean croghan is working on a solo album. he also plays the occasional
show. every time he attempts to put a band together things just don't
seem to work out. his band "moustache", (with sam coomes of "quasi" and
brothers chris and nate slusarenko), may not play any more shows either.
if you want more info i could possibly get it for ya.
