Re: [MMouse]: Cowboy Dan
What the fuck is SUPERGRASS doing opening for Pearl Jam? Pearl jam may or may not be, or at least probably claim to be, influenced by Sonic Youth, and quite frankly until they release a proper new album, I won't go see Sonic Youth to see the same set for the fourth time, so they probably need to tour with a bigger band. But Supergrass? They'll get booed off the stage! And they don't deserve that. Karina

I'm starting to get a feeling that there are a lot of band members on the modest mouse mailing list, almsot everyone I've talked to in fact. So everyone affiliated come out of the dark and tell a little bit about your band and put up your web addresses if you have them. I'll start, I'm the guitarist and vocalist in a band called Piglets Conscience from Anchorage, Alaska. We play indie and alternative and funny shit. But now the band is breaking up and I'm moving to Seattle to form a new band. So if you know anybody who's in Seattle and wants to be in a band, could you beg them to e-mail me? [MMouse]: off topic/im gonna start a war...with intel
according to an ad i just read in the village voice intel sponsers ascience fair every year that cause the deaths of hundreds of thousands animals.some examples of experiments the ad gave were that of severely injuring cows spinal cords, removing mices ovaries and then killling them and making lesions on rats brains to cause movement disorder. westinghouse sponsers a similar science fair but has a rule disallowing the use of live vertebrate animals so there is no reason intel cant do the same. to make intel change you can contact them c/0 Craig barret president and ceo intel corp. 2200 mission college blvd. santa clara.california 95052 (480)554.8080 or Peter Broffman f15-56 executive director intel foundation 5200 N.E. [MMouse]: pearl jam and indie
i dont see what the big deal is with pearl jam touring with different independent bands... they have always been strongly supportive of indie musicians in the past. i dont know if anyone listened to either of the times that they did 'self pollution radio' where they did live broadcasts of themselves and other bands performing, and eddie played a lot of his favorite music which included all sorts of good indie stuff including- multiple dischord bands, sonic youth, bikini kill etc. also pearl jam has been known to break into sections of fugazi's 'suggestion' in live performance. just because a band is signed to a major does not mean that they dont know anything about indie music or do not have good taste. stop being such elitist shitheads (not directed at everyone) word, blake b.

anyhow. there was this cool show last night where this insurgent country band called the Blacks did a bunch of tom waits songs. --Are these the same Blacks from Chicago? Tall girl playing stand-up, her husband playing guitar? I've gotten drunk with them a few times. They're great. Man, I saw Dub Narcotic here in Austin on Fri., and I was quite disappointed. Calvin just did not have the energy he usually has. I guess he learned how to play guitar 8 months ago, so he only sang one song & the rest were repetative instrumentals. The drummer kicks ass, though. Is she the same one from Beat Happening? Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com
