I think that Life Like Weeds starts off a lot like the Talking Heads! I mean
pure Byrne.

[MMouse]: Doug Martsch's Twin Falls Idaho

1999-12-13 Thread Travis

Yes,
What everyone has written is pretty much accurate. Ben Folds did cover
the song from BTS (he even acknowledges in the liner notes that he would
be content to just be a BTS cover band). Doug grew up in Twin Falls and
later moved to Boise then to Seattle then back to Boise. However Doug is
not even old enough to have turned 17 in 1983 as he is just starting to
go into his 30's. So the age doesn't add up. Just a little bit of
fictionalized rhyming.

[MMouse]: Procrastination on my greatest shows of all time.

1999-09-20 Thread Travis

Hello everyone,
I am reporting in from Boise, ID. Here is a quick little list of my
favorite concert memories

In no particular order...

-Every Mouse show at the Neurolux.
-The last Archers of Loaf show at the Neurolux (complete with The
Delusions, Jon Spencers Blues Explosion, and Creeper Lagoon). Actually,
every Archers of Loaf show I have seen has kicked some serious "A".
-The last ever Heatmiser show in Portland.
-Built to Spill shows at the Neurolux and all their outdoor shows that I
have attended.
-The early Elliott Smith shows at the Clinton Street Theatre in Portland
and the Laurelthirst bar.
-Every Hazel show that I have seen at La Luna.
-Jeremy Enigk opening for Sebadoh at La Luna.
-Peter Gabriel at the Tacoma Dome.
-Pearl Jam at Lollapalooza '92, in Bremerton, WA. That was when the
drugs took hold. Wowsers!
-Spinal Tap at the Civic Auditorium in PDX.
and on the very small surprise of a total unknown band note...
-Lush Budget presents The Les Payne Product at the Neurolux. I laughed
my head off silly. 2 crazy wacked out pop-geniuses who know how to have
a blast.
I know that I will think of a dozen others here shortly, but, that is it
for me. Thanks...

[MMouse]: Song Title Inquiry

1999-06-29 Thread Travis

Alright.I know that there is some ultra knowledgable fan out there
that can help me out. I am curious as to the title of a new Mouse song
that I have on a recent bootleg. Now I have very little legitimate clues
to help out on the tilte, but if you know what I am talking about maybe
you can help. It is a beautiful slower song, sang and played primarily
by Issac alone. It has a lovely change into the chorus and has a lyric
that states something like..."the universe is shaped exactly like the
earth, you walk along straight and end up exactly where you were."
Anyways, if you can help, you would be number one in my book. If you
know anything else about the song, like if it has been available
somewhere please let me know that too.
Thank You friends,
_THE Trav.
