Re: [MMouse]: Its like refrigerator poetry (with a scalpel)
well, i am not sure what this abercombie is since i am pretty removed from pop culture , but i was taken aback when i walked into a starbucks for the first time in quite awhile and heard a vic chesnutt song playing. anyhow, i think its a bit presumptious to assume that the"independant artist automatically does not want to hear their music played by the masses. i think a big distinction can be made between pandering yr music towards commercial outlets and on the other hand , like the mouse, making the music you want to make and having consu8mer culture accept it. i'm glad the flaming lips jelly song becam popular and was played on MTV and in Gaps. and i bet being on 90210 was fun for them. josh

Re: [MMouse]: bright eyes
i also had the opportunity to listen to the new bright eyes. one listen isnt enough to form an opinoun, but hey man, i got the distinct impression that the interview before the track was a JOKE, as were the liner notes. simply conorpoking fun at critics and fans who try to pick apart the meanings of his songs and can't seperate the author from the subjects he chooses to write about. a simple hello woulda been nice. instead you walked right by josh so the rent became whiskey then my life became risky On Tue, 11 Apr 2000, steven hahnel wrote: while im not doubting your experience with the band, id just like to throw out a random review of bright eyes' new album. i have the previous three cds and was excited to get the new one, but after having it for a few days i came to the conclusion that it is a big disappointment. some of the songs are pretty good, but nothing compared to the stuff on every day and every night. i mean, one of the tracks even has a fake radio interview at the end where connor pretentiously explains all the lyrical themes and tells us all what we should get out of the record. im not really one for having lyrics explained to me explicitly, so that was kinda lame, i thought. some of the songs are all out rock and roll, making them sound a lot like like connors old band, commander venus. i like the more laid back bright eyes stuff more, i think. final gripe: its not "lo-fi" anymore. there are tinges of that old aesthetic, but the way it pops up randomly makes it sound pretty artificial. maybe i just had high hopes after the last ep, but this was a let down. i dont know, maybe itll grow on me On Tue, 11 Apr 2000, david carmack wrote: i saw bright eyes monday in bloomington in, it was the best thing that ever happend to me, i cried all the way home
Re: [MMouse]: alkaline trio sounds just like US Maple
i saw us maple 6 times this summer. at first i didn't know what to think but after the 4th show they grew on me. At the Seattle show this past summer, Al, the lead singer kept harassing this odd looking mongol in the front and jacked his hat. did anyone see this? i picked up their last album 'talker' and i really dig it. the guys from Maple are really nice. Al Johsnon works at a pawn shop. The other guitarist paints dogs for a living. Aristocrats bring him their dogs and he paints portraits of them. The bass player is a social worker. And the drummer writes all the songs, every last note. I am full of useless info. anyhow, josh speedy motorcycle, wont you change me in a world of funny changes, speedy motorcycle won't you change me On Mon, 10 Apr 2000, steven hahnel wrote: i think its safe to assume that if you like the alkaline trio youre NOT going to like us maple. the alkaline trio are very homogenized, bland, and regurgitated. us maple are anything but On Mon, 10 Apr 2000, Larmey Mitchell wrote: the fact that Alkaline Trio would mention US Maple is kind of sickening to me. the worst case of name dropping I've ever heard. __ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com

www.lawnwranglers.com is dedicated to Bottle Rocket and Rushmore. Lots of great Sound clips. Bottle Rocket definitely appeals to a very specific kind of humor but INMO is definitely the funniest flick i have ever seen. ---
[MMouse]: 50 words or less
hey mouse fans, i am taking this crappy computer science course where we learn how to make a web page. i've decided to do a modest mouse page. i thought it would be cool to have a section where MM fans put together a few snazy sentences about why they dig MM. a poem or haiku or whatever would also be way cool. 50 words or less. and when i am done assembling the page, y'all can see what each other wrote. so if you have some time and are feeling creative, please contribute. thanks alot, josh my heart's a bitter buffalo.
