[MMouse]: Austin bands

2000-08-15 Thread Toni Rickman

No votes for Brown Whornet? They blow me away every
time I see them; even when they played "Tom Sawyer"
and "Home Sweet Home" for the 80's cheese rock show.must-see live show.

--I totally forgot about Brown Whornet. And HUG ("Get your dick covered in
shit at the circus"). And Voltage (though I heard they may be broken up,
b/c the singer is now doing puppet shows). So, there's three more Austin
bands that rock your world.

Pong is cool. And there's no denying that the ladies
love Pong.

When are those MM tickets for Ft. Worthless and/or
Albuquerque going on sale? And who's buying mine?

[MMouse]: austin again

2000-07-24 Thread george booze

hi,

i know a few people on this list are from austin
and well, i'm looking to move there in a short amount of time and i'm wondering
if someone from the area might like to help me out off-lists with questions i
have. questions like "i'm looking at an apartment in such-and-such area...
what's that part of town like?" or "does this look infected?". so if anyone
wants to help, please email me directly. much
obliged.

[MMouse]: Austin

2000-07-11 Thread Toni Rickman

What did I say? I'm glad someone agrees with me. 360 people move here per
day (which kinda sucks), and it's the 2nd fastest growing city in the nation
(aside from Las Vegas). The only thing that sucks is it doesn't rain as
much as it should.

2000-07-10 Thread Chris Stratton

it's a city..
about 2 1/2 hours south of dallas fort worth..
lots of bands play there..
they have a thriving hippie/veggie/nature foods scene..
samsung is located there
dell is located there...
6th street gets lost of recognition for good clubs, although all the best
ones aren't even on sixth street...
it's hot there in the summertime..
although it's the capital of texas, it's significantly smaller than dfw and
houston
every spring, thousand of cesspool media members throng the city in search
of the next "big" thing (also known as sxsw)
all in all i like the place...if i had to live anywhere else in texas
besides dfw, i'd live in austin..
there ya go

[MMouse]: Austin

2000-07-10 Thread Toni Rickman

All I can say about Austin is it's the coolest place on earth. Right on
Zach with your WEEN defending. Both of these shows rocked more than any
show I've seen ever, except for maybe Joan Jett (Jeff City, MO) and Modest
Mouse (here in Austin), of course.

[MMouse]: Austin show--I just won't give up

2000-06-29 Thread Toni Rickman

Ok. No one would answer my pleas for a video of the Austin show. I just
have a hard time believing no one on this list knows where to get one.
Anyway, what about just a plain old recording of it? Zach gave me a copy of
his, which is bad ass, but I can't hear the words on All Night Diner, Tiny
Cities and Other People's Lives. I was wondering if someone had a copy
where these songs were pretty clear. I know the vocal quality sucked at
Stubbs, but it's driving me crazy. Isaac made up a lot of new words on
these, and I really want to know what they were. Someone please help me,
and I promise it will be the last time I post about this show. I'm also
looking for ANY videos/recordings of any bad ass shows. Will work out a
trade.

thanks, toni

[MMouse]: AUSTIN SHOW

2000-06-23 Thread Toni Rickman

Ok, now I know that I've asked this question several times with no answer,
so I should probably just give up, but I'll ask again. DID ANYONE ON THIS
LIST VIDEOTAPE THE AUSTIN SHOW, OR DOES ANYONE KNOW SOMEONE WHO VIDEOTAPED
IT? I saw people there with cameras, so I know there are copies out there
somewhere. I really really really really want one. Someone please help me.

At the Austin show, does anyone know which song it was that he sang the
first verse of Ohio in? And did anyone videotape the Austin show?

[MMouse]: AUSTIN SHOW

2000-06-06 Thread Toni Rickman

So, no one on this list has the set list for the Austin show? Please, oh
please, don't tell me it's so. I didn't do it, b/c I was lazy and figured
someone else would do it. Plus, I was just a little more than intoxicated.
That guy, Jason, that's filming them, interviewed me for a long time, and I
don't remember much of what I said. I'll probably be the joke of the movie.
I'm also interested in a recording of the aforementioned show. HELP!

austin show was the best concert i have ever seen. unbelievable. i
guess they have really stepped their shows up after some of the things i
read about past shows being not so great. everyone on down to the beer
vendors were talking about how incredible a show it was. hell yea. i
scored front row right in front of isaac, and got to chill to the 1 hr
long sound check also. did i mention this show kicked all ass?

this is isaac's setlist. the encore doesnt seem right, but my wasted

2000-06-01 Thread Ryan Gullahorn

man, i'd like to meet austin people too, but sorry, forget lovejoys
(even though it is a kickass bar). I plan on being at stubbs at 7.40 to
secure my prime spot. Me and several other list folk are looking for
each other near the front left corner of the stage (the creek side),
where the rail meets the big ass speaker. I will have a tight plain
brown t-shirt and jeans. name is ryan. come have a drink and/or toke.

[MMouse]: austin show

2000-05-03 Thread Toni Rickman

I'll be at the Austin show for sure and certain. I'm just upset that the
Denton one has apparently been booted off the tour. I have a few friends
coming in town from all over for the show, and I have a feeling that I'm
going to be 10 sheets to the wind, but I might be down for hookin' up at
Lovejoy's. I love that place. The Willie Nelson "Last Supper" painting
just makes me happy. What are you interviewing Isaac for? I heard a rumor
that MM was going to be recording something on some Austin label --
Chandelier Paint Can something or other. When is that happening?

OK, Texas listers who will be at the Austin show...let's determine a place
to meet before the show that night. I'm assuming everyone who's going is of
legal drinking age (please alert me otherwise). What does everyone say to
Lovejoy's? Around 8pm? Lemme know.

Also, I'm definitely interviewing Isaac. Tomorrow morning, to be exact. So,
if there's anything you want me to ask, let me know!

Cheers!

Melanie
