i dont know much about braid, but tim kinsella seems like the last person to ever use someone elses lyrics. aside from being a musician, tim is a poet (look at his lyrics). yeah he is i think he's brilliant, but that doesn't mean he doesn't quote, interpolate, make allusions to, and reference other lyrics and lines in his songs. like both caP'n jazz and the sky corvair (tim's old band) have songs with the line "between the moon new york city" in them, and that's from that famous song "arthur's theme"...also in a joan of arc song he goes "in the room the women come and go (talking of leonard dicaprio)" which is a direct takeoff from t.s. eliot's line "in the room the women come and go (talking of michelangelo)." just a couple of examples. there's alot more...but i like that he does that cos it shows he's obviously intelligent (or at least aware of culture), and majored in english like me, haha...not to jump on yr ass, i'm just bored and thought i'd post this. xoxo nicole ___ Get Free Email and Do More On The Web. If memory serves, it's "The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock" or something similar, but I had a question too--has anyone read thea satirical rewrite of this poem named "The Love Song of J. Crew something or other" or something similar...I remember it being pretty funny, but can't remember who wrote it. At 11:22 PM 7/2/99 -0400, Michael R Bernstein wrote: brilliantly stated -- the point of kinsella -- especially with the new album, is to recognize influence -- to drop subtle hints -- and although i found his allusions to french philsophers a bitpretensious on the new LP, it is well done, and the point comes across -- and a bonus point for anyone who can name the ts eliot poem -- mike bill wright [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://hubcap.clemson.edu/~wwright

i dont like this whole epic thing, MM is not a major label band. the influence is really going to all the wierd shit that weve come to love as MM. id be a little salty if i picked up the new album and it were all clean and tight. it just wouldnt be MM. i dont like the whole "inde/emo" trend here, its not that people are discovering it, but it is that Warner brother , and disney are, isnt 90% of the world enough for them?
