Re: [MMouse]: Re: Mendoza lyrics
heres a newsflash for ya, dude. i own the cd containing the lyrics i ripped. thats right, its sitting right here, alphabetized in between the new mercury program and maximillian colby. its okay if i dont like lyrics, you know? just becuase i dont like the ones on that song and think they are far from being anything more profound that some 7th grader's try at poetry doesnt mean i am automatically in need of a "fuck you" and an accusation of listening to strictly polyvinyl and jade tree records bands. it is possible, even though you seem to know that youre music is better than mine, for me to listen to both. what a concept. and i hate to burst your bubble, but there are no "emo" bands on either jade tree or polyvinyl records. never were. that genre died in 1995 when portraits of past broke up. and im actually sorry that i have the mendoza line cd. for the most part, its pretty bland. even worse, the lyrics that were quoted are almost identical to about three other songs on the album. kindercore made a good, good move. Sometimes the simplest lyrics can sound so profound given the right voice and backing instrumentation. I'd love to rip open the CD collections of those who call such lyrics "insipid" to discover the intellectually stimulating treats that are to be found within. Shit, I should start quoting the simpler lyrics of any number of bands that I constantly see worshipped on this mailing list, shall I start with Polyvinyl, Jade Tree, or elsewhere? I'll take that emo to yr dome piece, son. *phiL* __ Do You Yahoo!? Send instant messages get email alerts with Yahoo! Messenger. http://im.yahoo.com/

Title: Re: Mendoza lyrics He's right! Some of my favorite lyrics are absolutely meaningless without the soul and music to back them up. Case in point: my all-time favorite lyric is This is the city life. Stupid, huh? Well I get shivers and nearly cry every time I hear it. -Original Message- From: Philip Smoker [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Tuesday, May 02, 2000 10:19 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [MMouse]: Re: Mendoza lyrics I'd just like to say FUCK YOU to all the people who are mocking the Mendoza lyrics as I thought they were charming and sweet. Right back at cha. Without music, lyrics are poetry, and as poetry, that song is shit. If this were a poetry discussion board, I would have posted a crit. and probably said something disparaging about fourteen year olds with word processors. This isn't a poetry discussion board, and I don't think anyone wants it to become one, so we said something cynical and let it die. As for rummaging through my CD collection to find my less "intellectually stimulating" selections, I didn't post "lyrics of the day" to an open forum. I thought those lyrics were crap, and I said so. I did not (nor did anyone) pass any judgment over the person who originally posted them, as you seem so quick to do of us. Check yourself before you wreck yourself.
