Xamarin Studio for Linux is comming soon!!!

 Remeber MonoDevelop?

MonoDevelop is not dead it is the core of XS, so it is there. If you mean
on Xamarin.Android support that is another story.
Xamarin.iOS will be NO-GO because of Apple's requirement to have mac for
 iOS, Mac development.

Exactly.

Xamarin Studio and MonoDevelop share the same engine.

Xamarin Studio just adds a couple of add-ins (Android, iOS, Mac and
Branding)

Xamarin Studio on Windows does not support iOS projects currently.

We are not likely going to move to Gtk# 3 any time soon.

We have evolved the plan over the years, but this is the current plan:

   - We are going to be refactoring Xamarin Studio along engine vs UI
components, to allow us to build native UIs for each component (WPF on
Windows, Cocoa on Mac, Gtk# on Linux).

   - We typically start with a Gtk# UI, because that one already works
everywhere, so we start with this, and we then provide the per-platform UIs.

Replacing Gtk# 2 with 3 is not really a goal. They change the API, and are
about to change it again with 4.

When we move everything over to this split UI system, we will take a look
at whether it is worth upgrading to newer versions of Gtk, but for now,
version 2 has lots of custom improvements for Mac and Windows that have not
yet been added to 3.

Correct, eventually this wont be necessary, and doing a port to Gtk# 3/4
will be easier.

I do not understand what CS on Linux means.

MonoDevelop *already* works on Linux, and internally we use it and continue
to develop it on Linux.

Even the Android support is developed on Linux. We just have not figured

Hardly imaginable.
.net in the beginning was one big COM object - even had a name what com+
v.2?
Similar with VS - still great parts are written in c/c++, so this is
hardly to believe it will be ported to non Windows anytime soon...
Microsoft needs to fix some important issues in VS on windows first like
supporting more than 256 chars paths - for modern OS this is tragic,
