Hi Friends!!

My name is Christian Castillo, I'm from mexico. Currently I'm developing a
project called Mononetwork which is port of gnome-network to platform .NET
using mono C# and Gtk#. The goal is provide a set network client tool (ping,
tracerouet, portscan, etc) which works on gnu/linux, windows and macos.

The project is pre-realesed version and we need peolple who wants to
participate in it.

The home page is www.gdasoftware.com/mononetwork
We have a cvs repository registered in Forge Novell.

Re: [Mono-list] Uncertainty and Doubt about MONO

Predict doom as much as you want about a Novell/Microsoft partnership, but how does their IP somehow damn my products that base off of theirs? That said, maybe Microsoft will be a bit more forthcoming with some of the features/specifications that are needed to have proper .NET 2.0 class library compatibilityor they'll just sue us all ;)CheersR. [Mono-list] Mono applications run really slow on Solaris

2006-11-06 Thread k2k2e6

I am using Mono 1.1.18 on Solaris Ultra Sparc (both Ultra II and Ultra III
single processor) and the applications run really slowly. Specially I am
noticing that memory intensive applications run a whole lot slower than the
equivalent program on x86 Mono on Linux (in these cases, the slowness is of
the order of 1000 times). This is making our Mono application unusable on
Solaris.

I search the bugzilla list for this problem and came to:
http://bugzilla.ximian.com/show_bug.cgi?id=79463

It seems that nothing has been done on this bug. Is it possible to get this
problem fixed? We are willing to work with Mono solaris person one on one to
get this resolved. I can also attach a sample program to bug 79463 to
illustrate this - but this problem does not seem to require any example
because pretty much any program runs way slower on Sparc.

Thanks
Pawan

The simpler the test case, the easier it is for us to look and find the
issue and eventually fix it. So, if you have a simple test that shows a
100x+ slowdown, do file it in bugzilla with your timing results and
complete cpu specs (cpu and frequency at least).
Thanks.

[Mono-list] Supporting a Mono-based project on AIX

2006-11-06 Thread R. Tyler Ballance
Howdy, I have a client that's looking to move our recent port of our software to Mono to support AIX as well as Linux, etc.I've read previous mailing list posts about somebody being able to compile Mono for AIX, and I was wondering if there's a project page for Mono/AIX, or any sort of status report? Stability of Mono on AIX?Mono has been a godsend in that we can support Mac, Linux, Solaris, FreeBSD, etc with one code base, but AIX support is the proverbial holy grail for us, anybody have any information pertaining to Mono on AIX? Cheers R.
