[MonoTouch] StoreKit / in app payments via MonoTouch

2011-06-03 Thread Christian Moores
Hi all,

We are currently integrating in app payments into our MT app. We have
followed the Obj-C guidelines and got all the products registered, and
ported the code over to Mono. Has anyone successfully integrated StoreKit
and/or in app payments and can share some advise?

Situation:

We want to connect to the iOS payment test sandbox servers (as per the
guides) but when we try and launch a purchase, storekit comes back with
connection timed out or similar error. It doesn't bring up the native prompt
to log in with our test credentials, nothing happens in the UI from within
storekit.

This is a crucial part of our development for this product, and I am assured
that others in the MT community have successfully introduced in app payments
via their MT apps.

Thanks in advance,

Long live Mono for Mobile platforms!

Re: [MonoTouch] Wrong IP Address

2011-07-29 Thread Christian Moores
Hi Greg,

A tip: If you remove your app from the device, and redeploy (via debug or
run), your app will automatically be configured with the current
computer's IP address.

Both device and mac should be on the same network or at least be able to
communticate. You may have to check firewalls if youre not on the same
subnet.

Regards,
Chris

Greg, I've had exactly the same behaviour you describe. I rebooted the MBP

Did you recompile and redeploy the app after each change
of the network settings? The IP is burnt in the app at compile time.

Hi Dave,

setRootViewController does not exist in pre-4.0 iOS versions.
Please see the following solution:
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/4371304/uiwindow-setrootviewcontroller-e

Note: You will need to detect the OS and then switch command as
appropriate.
We do this in our app with no problems.

I'm not sure how much control the publisher has on the final price. We
found that the ebook prices will eventually stabilize around a certain
price, typically the Amazon price, but the market is a strange thing.

Thanks for the kind words on our book. Chris Hardy and Craig Dunn really
worked hard and made that book work. They should get the lion's share of
the credit on that book, but I am glad to take the credit for it. :-)

Just one problem in pre release options: Kindle version is $8 more than
paper O.o

I like kindle or other electronic versions as It's not heavy to carry on,
it's immediate reading before buy, it's more ecological, it's cheap, and it
doesn't travel to Brazil…

BTW, congrats by the work, I'd like to read It. Wally was my first MonoTouch

Hello Everyone -

I wanted to make the community aware of Professional Cross-Platform Mobile
Development in C#, a new book from Wrox that will be released next week. It
discusses how the business logic and data integration layers can be
separated from the presentation layer of your application, so that you have
code sharing not only across platforms via MonoTouch, Mono for Android, and
Windows Phone 7, but also across architectures with your shared code running
on the server powering a presentation layer of HTML5/JavaScript/CSS.

It was written by Scott Olson, John Hunter, Ben Horgen, and Kenny Goers of
ITR Mobility, and shares a lot of our enterprise cross-platform mobile
development experience. Hopefully the content will be valuable to many
others in the community.
