[MOPO] Poster above fireplace damage??
Hello everyone, I just moved the new place has a wood burning fireplace. I would love to hang a nice plexi-framed poster above the fireplace. Could using the fireplace cause any damage to the poster? Re: [MOPO] Poster above fireplace damage??
Poster above fireplace damage??Hi Ryan, I just removed some lobbies and Photos (framed and under Plexi) from the wall over my Pellet Stove (the cleanest burning of fuels) and with the pellet stove the heat is fanned out (doesn't migrate up) and I could not believe how dirty everything was and how the yellow grime had infiltrated the frames, (would assume that this soot is acidic) These were fairly recent hangings and this wall was painted a few months ago and I did not start using the stove untill around the middle of Sept. Re: [MOPO] Poster above fireplace damage??
Poster above fireplace damage??Hey Ryan, Typically if you are using plexiglass or acrylic there should not be a problem. However, assuming you're talking about a nice little cozy fire, you might want to put a fire on for awhile and then feel the wall you will be hanging the frame on. Sometimes the fireboxes inside the wall aren't that good and the wall can heat up, obviously not to the point that it would cause a fire, but enough heat to make the back of the frame warm and can cause drying out of the poster and thus brittlization. I have a french 47x63 framed above my fireplace. It has hung there for 12 years and there is no problem at all. I do periodically open it up just to check. Hope this info helps. Please feel free to call me with any questions. [MOPO] Bond-- Good Bond
Hi, all, from Joe B in NOLA. Just saw the new Bond film and I thought it was fabulous!! A bit long but worth it. The first thirty minutes is astounding! Craig is, for my buck, definitely the best Bond since Connery. Quit reading all the spoilers and go -- asap!! I suggest Sunday's first show when the hoi polloi will (or should) be in church!! Joe, et al I read a few reviews, but I do not read blogs, watch TV clips and I try not to see trailers as they tell you the entire film. Ruins it. K. When I read that a hat worn by Al Pacino in THE GODFATHER sold in the Heritage Entertainment auction for $20,315.00, suddenly great film posters for titles like CASABLANCA, SULLIVAN'S TRAVELS, THE WIZARD OF OZ, DRACULA, LAWRENCE OF ARABIA...seem like bargains.
