Re: [MOPO] FS: Japanese Gappa
Indeed a nice site Erich. I really enjoyed some of the poster you have for sale, wishing that I had them on our website ;-) I really enjoyed the Russian Hellraiser poster with the borrowed image from Fright Night. However, the box at the bottom is not the Necronomicon, if I'm not mistaken. As far as I know this box is just simply called The Box and sometimes the Puzzle Box. Even the model kit for this box was called The Box. The Necronomicon usually refers to The Book of The Dead as featured in many movies like The Evil Dead and The Necronomicon. [MOPO] INFO REQUEST - PARAMOUNT COLOR HANDOUTS
Howdy - Does anyone know the full story on the 8 x 10 litho color star portraits (two hole punched) with info and ads on reverse - that were given away (at least) by Paramount at theaters in the 1950's? I have a great Martin and Lewis, in hand, from Paramount - but seems like other studios got in the act, too. Wondered what these promo portraits were precisely named at the time. And also wondered if the two hole punch albums were supplied by the theater. Two hole being an odd size vs. the more standard 3 punch. Also - I know early 1950's, but I wonder what was the full range of years? The images are beautiful. I also like the stamp albums and star stamps that were given out. Maybe somebody knows the story on them as well. I happen to have an album, so I can see how these were to be collected. Did the above promo material cost anything or was it free in those days (the awful early TV years when the battle for audience was on in full!) Thanking anyone in advance for picking up the thread and sharing what you know. Like many of you folks, I am fascinated by stuff that was given away at theaters over the years. [MOPO] 2010 one sheet
I have two different one-sheets for the film 2010. One is full bleed style (artwork goes to the edge of the paper) like modern one-sheets, and the other has a white border edge around it, like older one-sheets. I believe both are the same physical size. Does anyone have any thoughts or knowledge on why there are two different kinds? -Steve Visit the MoPo Mailing List Web Site at www.filmfan.com ___ How to UNSUBSCRIBE from the MoPo Mailing List Send a message addressed to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] In the BODY of your message type: SIGNOFF MOPO-L The author of this message is solely responsible for its content.
Re: [MOPO] 2001 Star Child Poster
MovieArt has the undated starchild one sheet that is generally accepted to be the original of this style. The undated one sheets are generally rolled, and are very valuable. Folded copies which are dated in the bottom margin begin to appear as early as 1969. We have these for 1969, 1970, 1971. 2001 was a film that had an odd release pattern and was generally playing around in one form or another during all those years, many times at midnight movies. So this is not original in any sense but may be unusual in that it is rolled. Most of these copies are folded. Kirby McDaniel On Aug 5, 2008, at 2:44 PM, Shelly Whitworth-King wrote: Very good, Ron!
