Re: [MOPO] Carol Tincup and missing posters.

2013-10-11 Thread Jeff Potokar

Thanks, Dave,

It sounds like folks should be politely asking/emailing her and
asking to have their posters returned... restored or not (or even in
progress of being done).

Revised to include her e-mail address.

My last contact info on Carol is 805.516.9075, 1306 Old Telegraph
Rd., Fillmore, CA 93015; her e-mail is ctin...@gmail.com She has
had one of my posters for almost a year. Here's what I know:

1. Carol's home in Fillmore is being converted by her landlord into
"for sale" property.
2. As a result, her stated plan is to move back to Orange, CA,
health permitting.
3. During the past 15 months, she has had two major surgeries,
disrupting her work.
4. Her brother died suddenly in the spring of this year, also
disrupting her work.
5. She is "non-ambulatory" and my guess is she'll remain disabled
until next year.

6. She is 68 years old and recuperating slowly.
7. Her stated goal is to re-establish her business in Orange.
8. My last contact with her was August 28, 2013.
9. She was extremely emotional when I asked her to give me a
progress report.

I do not recommend anyone sending posters to her until further
notice, in particular, not until she is able to resume work after
she moves to Orange. I suspect she has posters from other
collectors backed-up, waiting to be fixed. I am fearful that if
she is verbally unresponsive, pitchforks and torches might soon
follow.

I left a voice mail for her about this today. Although she has
good intentions, I am NOT optimistic her problems will be resolved
in a timely manner, e.g., within a few weeks - because of
circumstances beyond her control. If I hear from her, I will let
everyone know. If I do not hear from her, I will post nothing as
this will obviously be a bad sign of the status of her present-day
misfortunes. - d.

I met Carol Tincup on April 25, 2012 and gave her two items to be
restored. She has promised many times to send the posters to me and
hasn’t. If anyone has any advice or knowledge re. Tincup that will
help me I would appreciate it.

The Posters are original, and come from a Regional Film Archive in Mexico City.
They were designed in Hollywood and printed in Mexico.
Each Poster contains the same design elements found on Posters from the US.
They contain both stills from the Film and also design elements from the One
Sheet Poster.

The typography, photos, artwork, stars names, credits, drawings, scenes,
emotional impact,
appeal, and intrinsic value are virtually the same as Posters from Hollywood or
any other
international Metropolis where the film had been shown.

However, the layout will be much flashier, more graphically intensive, or even
more lurid.
The size is appx. 13" x 17"---over 40% larger than a standard Lobby Card.
As such, each Poster is a cross between a Jumbo Lobby Card, Title Card, and a
One Sheet Poster.
The Posters were printed on either heavy Cardboard Stock, thick fine Linen
Paper, or
sturdy Poster Stock.

Overall very good condition, altho there will be occasional tears, pinholes,
stains, etc.
There are eight different variations for each poster---containing different
stills from the film.
Some dupes.

I am after the Italian fotobustas if anyone has them. I had them and they went

Also I wonder if anyone has seen the set of uk double crowns (?) I think there
is four different designs. Saw images years back. THEY would be my most sought
after paper.

2013-10-11 Thread Kirby McDaniel

You can ASK ANY GIRL.

But don't ask your wife if you can hang this poster because it is 20 feet long.

I don't think you can ever get enough Shirley MacLaine, however.

Cute pixieish painting of her. David Niven and Gig Young also in this rom-com.

A scan from the pressbook is available upon request. We also have a three sheet
on the same title.

This poster is old but condition is good.

[MOPO] "Its refreshing to see there are still companies around that care about customer service"

2013-10-11 Thread Bruce Hershenson
One of our customers called us, and he was upset because the Post Office
where he lived had contacted him and told him that a package we sent to him
had the incorrect postal code, and that this would delay the package. He
wanted us to know that our mistake had inconvenienced him, and that he
didn't know how long it would be until he received his package.

We apologized and agreed to fix it and to try to discover when the mistake
had been made, and by who. We found out that *HE *had incorrectly entered
his code when he registered, and that his previous orders had been shipped
incorrectly marked, but that the Post Office (and him!) had not noticed the
error until now!

We contacted him and told him what we had found out, and here is how he
responded:

"Thank you very much for your quick response and friendly service. I'm
sorry to have taken up any of your time with something that was my fault.
Its refreshing to see there are still companies around that care about
customer service. Thank you again to your whole team."

We re-replied:

"It was no trouble and we were happy to research it. It actually showed us
something else about our invoicing system that needed our attention, so it
turned out to be very helpful to us! Please don't hesitate to contact us in
the future if you have the slightest problem (and remember to let us know
what happens with your package)!
