I wonder if Mara Corday was there? I know exactly what Kirby means. I understand the more cynical West Coast collectors refer to these things as THE AISLE OF THE DEAD. Re: [MOPO] NY Times - Hollywood Memorabilia Show in Burbank
What sucks is that Ms. Dargis DOESN'T belong at the show. She's so jaded she can't appreciate that people want to be close to their favorite films in any way. She should stick to watching film and not watching film-goers. Now on a different note. I saw HURT LOCKER and it was amazing. Kathryn Bigelow is a brilliant filmmaker and it was the closest thing I've seen to a Sergio Leone film in a long time. I got to meet her and she's so cool. She was a painter and you can see it in her films. The cinematography was riveting and music powerful. The actors were wonderful and will have brilliant careers ahead of them. She signed autographs because yes, Ms. Dargis they want a brilliant filmmakers' autographs, not yours. Re: [MOPO] NY Times - Hollywood Memorabilia Show in Burbank
Ray sold it over a year ago. The last show I attended was in April 08. I thought the new owners were taking the show into a different direction, concentrating much more on autograph seekers and stars than on dealers and buyers of movie memorabilia. It was still fun, but a little different and in some ways more professionally run. Did anyone go to the last show that was reported on in the NYTimes and if so, how was it? This was the first April show I missed in about ten years. FRANC -Original Message- From: MoPo List [mailto:mop...@listserv.american.edu] On Behalf Of Tom A.
