I was mentioning to another member that while going through a pile of stills at
the event I was talking with one collector who just collects pinup style stills
of female actors, he was having a field day pulling out hundreds of stills.
Everyone collects something different which is why the event is great for more
generalized collectors. BUT even as specialized as I am I still picked up some
great pieces so I was very happy with the event! I also got to put a lot of
faces to names from here that I probably never would have had the opportunity
to do so which meant a lot.

I’m looking forward to next year’s auction already, even if there is nothing in
it for me I love seeing some of the great pieces in it!

All the best.

Sincerely,

I guess I'll give my own review. We are not the big boys and three of us work
on this all year long We only did $100,000 which is low for all of the work. I
get pulled either way. People like inexpensive $100 reserve lots but it's not
cost effective. Look for Major changes next year.

I am committed to preserving the Cinevent weekend as the best and last
remaining good movie memorabilia with all of it's difficulties. Paul's comments
were correct but where will you find something better plus the camaraderie
which is part of the fun?

Next year we will drop our 800 lot auction to less than 200 lots.

Lots will be of a higher quality across the board.

It will continue to be a mixture of stills, lobby cards and posters

I will bring 40,000 stills filed by title and or star for sale. Collector's
prices.

I will consider requests but people are visiting our store EVERY week.

There will be 11x14" stills in next years auction.

Taking Quality $500 and up consignments NOW. I already have 42.

Whether you buy from my auction or not please support Cinevent.

Thank You Morrie

For your Laurel and Hardy Lot #141 it shows a Campaign Book to “Our Relations”

different, what is the second title? And do both have the poster images on the

Thank you,

2015-11-16 Thread Jeff Potokar

I was thinking the same, too, Tommy.

In looking at all the items, the LOWEST minimum reserve on ANY poster/
LC item was 100.00

This probably kept people away, who knew that certain items should
sell for even less than even that min. reserve amount.

I *REALLY *wanted to go this year, but some personal issues (not poster

I sure hope I can next year! I used to go every year and I always found it

well through emails or phone calls. And Morrie Everett is about the second

I REALLY wanted to go this year, but some personal issues (not poster
related!) came up and I just can't do it. :(

I sure hope I can next year! I used to go every year and I always found it
worthwhile, and the best part was getting to put faces to people I knew
well through emails or phone calls. And Morrie Everett is about the second
nicest person I have ever met (his wife, Diana. is even nicer).

On Monday May 11th or hopefully sooner the Hollywood Poster Auction will be
online with all 835 lots in color. We have been unhappy with the quality of
recent catalogs so we have sent you a 12 page quality color flyer and hope you
will go online to see the rest of the images. Better yet come to Cinevent in
Columbus, Ohio May 22-25 and view the lots in person. For those who collect
movie magazines and stills there is an amazing large selection this year in
addition great posters and lobby cards. So Check us out this weekend.

Re: [MOPO] hollywoodposterauction.com

2013-05-23 Thread Tom Martin
Morris when I was a little boy.. my single mom couldnt give me a
allowance so I sold stff from Boys life scouting magazine to buy a
acoustic guitar.. olympia sales selling Christmas cards.. talk about
rejection... but I finally sold enough and then when the guita came
it broke from the bridge and hit me in the head// then my dear dear
Grandmother bought me a amp and electric guita my 1st for 29.00
same with collecting never had the funds except a occaisional comic,
or non sport trading cards... But I would go to kids homes that had
extensive collections and drool over their famous monsters and aurora
models and gum card collections.. and tin toy robots and movie
memorabilia.. I took film class however a actuall super 8mm camer was
out of reach and when I finally did get one labs and film costs where
all out of reach...
But then by the late 70s after meeting some real collectors of
movie stuff... I was able to acumulate so much stuff like posters
camers film collection , projectors, books , magazines and the
materials we all love... I only had a few super high priced posters
in my time selling but the vast amount was more then that 11 year old
boy ever imagined.. Part of why this all happened was meeeting people
like you Morrie who shared catalogs and the passion of the hobby with
me even when I didnt have two nickles to rub together,,, and so your
catalogs abecame like sears catalogs to me , educated me on Images
and the business of Movie memmorabilia and just entertained me more
then almost any periodical on the stands..
the people you sell to the years of your business and the cinevent
are some of my favorite memories of movie memorabilia... I met so
many cool peoppel from Mopo amd cinevent...the deals , the finds ,
the dealers, and th hunt all fun and just seeing the longtime dealer
faces.. I miss as its been years since ive been there,. this year esp
its a big loss as I woulld like to visit... But perhaps next year..
if steve haynes still keeps it going... anyways today i received your
detailed caatalog and its just perfect the variety and it had
stuff I love the old trade magazines of exhibition going back to
teens.. so Just wanted to thank You for the catalog and for your
kindness and education... you have given so much to the memorabilia
and movie history... I hope you have a very good turnout and great
job and the catalog as always. God bless, Tom

This years auction is quite different. There are 300 lots of other
kinds of vintage posters with great graphics at very low reserves.
There are 500 lots of movie posters, lobby cards, stills, autographs,
magazines, etc. The Last Moving Picture Co., Hollywood Poster
Auction, and me, Morris Everett Jr. truly appreciate your support.
