Re: [MOSAIC] read alouds

2007-06-08 Thread gina nunley
For fellow middle school teachers my kids LOVE when I read aloud

Flipped by Wendelin Van Draanen (perfect point of view story that is
especially good for getting middle schoolers to imagine what the other kid
feels like)

The Library Card by Gary Paulsen (I use it before a research unit)

I am David Anne Holm and L. W. Kingsland (great for discussion on what it
means to be fully alive.appreciating what most of us take for grantedboy
grows up post WWII i n Soviet camp)

[MOSAIC] (no subject)

2007-06-08 Thread Amy and Christine Rebera
At our school we are revamping our ELA assessments. I am looking for ideas
that would be good for K-4 writing and K-2 reading that do not include Dibbels.
Does anyone have suggestions that would be good for some of our staff members
that feel that we need to have hard data?

Thanks-
Christine

It's similar to DIBELS but it's not DIBELS. It's called AIMSweb. The
website is www.aimsweb.com. It might help you.

[MOSAIC] book talks

2007-06-08 Thread ginger/rob
I will be announcing the details for our book talk on the second edition of
Mosaic of Thought in a few days.

Would any of you be interested in facilitating a book talk here on the
second edition of Strategies That Work? I'm looking at a start date for the
Strategies book talk sometime mid/late July. Stephanie Harvey is holding her
Reading is Thinking conference in Chicago June 26 and 27 and I would like to
announce the book talk then.

It would involve setting up a reading schedule and actively participating in
the online talk. Stenhouse just released a study guide for STW2 at
www.stenhouse.com/0310.asp?r=n114
I would imagine that could support the book talk???

If you are interested, please write me OFF LIST at [EMAIL PROTECTED]
. It could be shared if several people are interested.

Get your MOT2 books ready!!
