[mou-net] Gray Partridge - Dak Cnty

2011-10-30 Thread Bruce Baer
A half dozen Gray Partridge flushed from the road edge when I turned in the
Industrial Park area near Randolph.

Lake Byllesby had plenty of habit for shorebirds, but only two Killdeer could
be found. No waterfowl to speak of either.

[mou-net] Grey Partridge

2009-03-03 Thread Gary Ash
It seem that three times is the charm for me. It took me three tries to see
the Varied Thrush in Roseville and it took me three tries to see the Grey
Partridge in Dakota County. But Judith Sparrow and I saw the Grey Partridge
at 180th and Joan tonight at 6:00 PM.
Sorry Jim, they showed up ten minutes after you left.

[mou-net] No Partridge

2009-03-02 Thread Curt Rawn
While birding in Dakota County, today, we saw Snow Buntings, and Horned Larks.
Our quest was the Gray Partridge, but sadly we were shut out. We watched the
area of 180th St. and Joan Ave around 2:15 pm and from 5-6:15 pm.

It was a chilly, but beautiful day, and we walked at Carpenter Park. While
there, we saw a pair of immature Bald Eagles soaring overhead.

There would be no challenge, if you saw every bird you went after.

Birding with Linda Whyte.

Seven gray partridges tonight digging in the snow one-quarter mile north of
180th and Joan in Dakota County, on Joan just north of the line of evergreens,
at dusk.

[mou-net] gray partridge/Rochester

2009-02-22 Thread James Griffin
With the new snow cover I decided to try for gray partridge by the airport
radar tower. No luck. This is my 3rd attempt in that area. Any other Rochester
area suggestions. I did see the post for Dakota Cty. Maybe I will take the ride
this afternoon.

[mou-net] Gray Partridge - Dakota County

2009-02-22 Thread Steve Weston
I have seen Huns (Gray Partridge) in several places around Dakota County and
elsewhere in the state, but I have never found them to be dependable. In
fact, I have always considered that even knowing where they were being seen
was of little help in finding these cuties. But, today I joined several
other birders waiting at 180th and Joan watching a bare snow covered field.
And, as promised, right at dusk, eight Huns flew in and started running
around and diving into the snow to feed. They would run a few feet and
burrow down about four inches into the snow so they mostly below the snow.
After a few minutes they would pop out and run and dig in again. They were
completely unconcerned with the proximity of our cars. Shortly before they
flew in, we walked around the hedge, finding only the tracks were they had
flown and run into the hedge. The only othere birds around the area were a
pair of Red-tailed Hawks and flocks of Horned Larks feeding along the road.

[mou-net] Gray Partridge ~ Dakota Co.

2009-01-19 Thread Conny Brunell
This morning I had the good fortune of seeing a covey of 8 Gray Partridge in
Dakota County.
They were visible from 180th St., and the intersection of Joan Ave feeding out
in the open
agricultural fields on the north side of 180th St. This is south of Hastings
and east of Northfield
Boulevard CR 47.
