I succeeded when I downloaded the .zip file.It does not require
installation. After unzipping,a "bin" folder is created. If you right
click on mozilla.exe, you can create a shortcut to the
desktop.I,usually, copy a Plugins folder into the bin folder, which will
replace the meager plugins folder there, and rename the bin folder,if I
wish.I definitely rename the mozilla.exe shortcut. This has worked with
the nightlies, and is doing well with 0.9.8.Since it will be replaced
soon, all you need to do,is to delete it.

I think the assumption that is being made is that if you use the process
which you are evidently using that you are viewing someone else's
webpage, and that even if you were planning to mirror the site that you
wouldn't necessarily keep the directory structure created by someone
else intact(Or if you were mirroring the entire site than the site's
owner is probably aware of this and can give you a tarball or zip file
of the entire site which is much easier for everyone involved). If you
are editing your own website then you should have a local copy of it
which you then open from within Composer with the Open File command and
this 'problem' is avoided.

If you want to view a page with relative links in composer then do the
following:

1) Save Web page as Html Only(2nd option of the three)(say to
/tmp/temp.html)
2) Open Composer
3)  File->Open File, Choose the file you just saved(though I don't
really understand why if you are designing a website you don't already
have a local copy of everything.)
4) Voila, all your relative links are mantained just as you want.

I fail to see how this 3-step process makes Composer 'unusable'...

The reason that relative links can't be saved as relative links is that
a lot of sites have links like "../../images/". There is no way to
guarantuee(nor is it really even likely[for instance a likely place to
save the webpage is ~/webpages/, ../../ then corresponds to the home
directory which I don't have write access for]) that a user will have
write access to ../../ from whereever he saves the page so instead the
associated files are placed in a subdirectory of where the file is saved
since it is known that the user must have write permissions to make that
directory if s/he can save the html file there. Also I should point out
that the links are still technically relative, they are just relative to
the actual location of the webpage and where its accessory files are
saved. The only thing that is really changed to absolute links are
website links which is also reasonable since they are not all downloaded
so they are nowhere to be found locally and therefore must point to the
entire URL.

http://bonsai.mozilla.org/cvsquery.cgi?treeid=default&module=SeaMonkeyAll&branch=HEAD&branchtype=match&dir=&file=&filetype=match&who=&whotype=match&date=hours&hours=NUMBER_OF_HOURS_GOES_HERE&mindate=&maxdate=&cvsroot=%2Fcvsroot

Replace "NUMBER_OF_HOURS_GOES_HERE" with some number, e.g. 20 to see all
checkins in the last 20 hours. You can also replace
NUMBER_OF_HOURS_GOES_HERE with %s and then add a bookmark to that URL
and give it a keyword, e.g. "ci" for checkins. Then you'll be able to
see a list of checkins during the last 20 hours by typing ci 20 in the
URL bar, last 13 hours by typing ci 13, and so on.

Ahhh, this seems to work. I removed libnullplugin.so (sorry,
forgot to mention that I'm using linux).

After restarting the browser and loading a page with a plugin
it provides me an option to disable the dialog box. The
resulting entry in the preferences file is:

  user_pref("plugin.display_plugin_downloader_dialog", false);

Tho this is *way* off topic, I agree with you. It never fails to amuse me
when people say they *still* use notepad to make their web pages. Jees,
there's about a thousand better programs to use, including UltraEdit... (not
to mention Dreamweaver, Homesite, etc). Dang if I'd pay someone to do my
website using Notepad... (course this is a debate for another group)

Oh, and it's Ctrl+Shift+W that closes a window. Ctrl+Q closes ALL windows.

Re: quicktime stole my mime settings

2002-02-08 Thread Flo Ledermann

finally got it working... thanks for the pointers (didnt even expect
to find a bug in bugzilla because i was sure it was a quicktime issue)

for other people having the same problem: my mozilla installation used
the plugins from netscape 4's plugin folder, and they didn't get
updated from the quicktime control panel. what you have to do is
delete the plugins in netscape4's (& mozillas) program folder (all
dlls beginning with npqtplugin), then launch the quicktime control
panel and apply the settings you want, then copy the dlls to mozillas
plugin folder.

Apparently Composer is what is used to compose your emails so it needs
to remain within the application.

There's already a standard way of implementing additional event
handlers, as specified by the DOM level 2 REC. Had MS followed this,
then they would have had a relatively clean implementation. Any HTML
style onfoo="" event handler are at best, a hack.

See above. How much more OO do you need DOM2 events to be?

Can't invoke wget for downloading--problem with Helper Applications?

2002-02-08 Thread Geoff Stanbury

Hi. I'm interested in setting up Mozilla 0.9.7 to automatically
invoke wget to download a *.gz or a *.bz2 file when I click on it,
instead of using Mozilla's built-in downloading thingy.

I tried setting up the following in Helper Applications:

File type "Application/gzip" with extension "GZ" should be handled by
the application "xterm -e wget -P ~/download %s".

It seems, however, that Mozilla is only recognizing the very end of
that application command--when I click on a *.gz file, it asks me if I
want to save it or if I want to use the application "download %s"
(skipping most of the command that I had hoped would invoke wget in
its own xterm). Choosing the application option simply leads to
Mozilla downloading the file itself as normal.

Does anybody have any advice? I'm sorry if this has come up before,
but I haven't found anything on it. I'm hoping that means that the
solution is pretty simple.

Thanks a lot.
