Re: Firefox needs server privileges?

Firstly, you're in the wrong group here - see http://www.mozilla.org/community/user-forums.html for where you should have posted. Firefox doesn't need to have a server open to the outside world - ZoneAlarm's presentation of the issue is a bit lacking. Firefox and Mozilla use network sockets for communication between the browser and the separate module that handles connections to secure websites (among other things). It's a convenient way of doing the communication which works the same in Windows, Linux, and other versions of Mozilla and Firefox. Depending on your firewall, it shouldn't do any harm to block the server (because the connections will only come from your own computer). If you do allow it to act as a server, you can be assured that the only thing that can connect to that server is the browser on your own computer. -- Michael ___ Mozilla-security mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://mail.mozilla.org/listinfo/mozilla-security
