great! thanks for all the debugging. I downloaded the newest *.br2 on
that site.

I got a version vbrquantize.c edited 1:19am, if that's the one, I
think I found another possible cause. I'll test it later this day when
I can access CVS. (these outages are something in DNS?)

thanks for all great work.

Yes, just tested, and works like a charm...

I think about 50% of all distortion is out! Distortion peaks much
lower now and some clips gone.

I hope you have some useful info on what I found about >20kHz, and
maybe the other 50% is gone :))

thanks!

I just fixed that problem with that *pseudo endless loop* :-)
It may have solved the problems with these clips too.

The site is dead for me also ... 768K DSL from Ohio USA. Murphy's law has
been strong this year.

try http://r3mix.50g.com/clips.zip, but if possible just http://r3mix.50g.com
because I don't want to be kicked.

Strange, because even my opera works, and all Javascript and Java are
disabled for me...

let me know, otherwise I'll just add to r3mix.net, but I'm running
outta webspace there :(

just tested, and site is up?

"lame --decode"

thanks for the interest. I was thinking I was in some kill-files by
now. :)

[MP3 ENCODER] "clips": severe Lame click/clipping and showing odd behaviour

2000-07-19 Thread Roel VdB

Hello,

With some small manipulations I managed to get a 750kB (music
fragments) file together where Lame 386 vbr clips seriously.

Please download zip#2 from http://r3mix.50g.com [100mb fast webspace,
but no direct links allowed :(]

visual aid/necessity:
http://users.belgacom.net/gc247244/extra/clips.png

"odd behaviour": Lame 386 V1 took _2 MINUTES_ on this 8 seconds clip,
where 385 only takes 3 seconds. First I thought "endless loop
initiated", but apparently not ...

for the ones wondering: that's all for now and the next few days/weeks
(relief :))

btw: I notice that the noise levels of vbr_mt are substantially higher
than vbr_rh, even though the files are bigger. Why is this? ($1MQ)

suggestion: if all tweaking effords should fail, would it be feasible to
switch back to vbr_rh search _for some frames_ while conditions are
extreme?
