[Mpls] Endorsements for school board candidacy

2004-04-27 Thread Steve Brandt
Executive director? Chairman? To confuse matters of position even
more, here's how Mr. Edwards' title was reported at the time of his
ouster:

Date: 01/26/87
Section: NEWS
Page: 01A
Edition: METRO
Byline: Tom Hamburger; Staff Writer
Length: 22.9

The membership of the Minneapolis Urban League voted 257-17 Sunday to
oust its militant president, Ron Edwards, and the board of directors
that supports him.

Thanks for the correction. Ron Edwards served from 1978 to 1987 as chairman
of the board of the Urban League (longest serving), and is not listed at the
MUL web site as one of the executive directors. The top Minneapolis Urban League
administrator since 1998, Clarence Hightower is identified as "President /
CEO," and not executive director. Edwards is referred to as past
President/Chairman of the local Urban League (1978-1989) in a press release issued by
the
publisher of "The Minneapolis Story."

Actually the longest serving President was my uncle Gleason Glover who served
for 25 years until his untimely passing. That position is now held by
Clarence Hightower. Ron Edwards served as Chairman of the Board from 1978-1987
which is 9 years but still the longest serving Chairman.
