Re: [Mpls] Thanks, Craig!

2002-10-09 Thread DeWayne Townsend

My wife and I had a grand time, but it was too hard to match names with
faces. Wish I could have met more of you.

So which table had the balloons anyway, I only saw them on the ceiling.

There were a couple of southsiders present. Mike Holhman, the Wiz, Barb
Lickness, I'm sorry if I missed a couple of you. In general though,
considering how bottom heavy this list is with south siders, as usual they
wouldn't deign to cross Hennepin Ave and see what happens up north. Too bad
 they missed it.

Thanks Craig, it was excellent!! And Octoberfest at Gasthaus was a gas!
What an alive crowd. Besides us, NE neighborhood types, and college
students, there was a Carlson School of Business contingent having a
 reception/party in the Rathskeller.

So where were the South Minneapolis types? Renee made it in from
Wisconsin! (But don't believe her--it wasn't that cold! She was
shaking, but that was on the dance floor.)

The Wiz was not there -- as far as I saw. Rosalind Nelson, Annie Young,
and Terrell Brown were all there.

I agree with the Name Tag idea for the future and not letting the balloons
loose from the table so we can all be together. I too think there were
lots more of us then we really knew about. In the future I hope we can
chose a place collectively and it will be a place where we have the ability
to talk to one another without hundreds of others around. It was an
interesting, fun evening in NE but I wanted to be with my e-list friends
more than happened that night.

2002-10-07 Thread Bob Alberti

I was there and I'm a southsider.

It was a good time and I didn't mind the cold. But the music was so
astonishingly loud that I was reminded of when I lived a mile from JFK
airport in Queens, and we'd wait for the gaps between jets in order to
continue our conversations...

P.S. I have been properly chastised, please stop telling me that it's a list
rule to sign our messages. I got it, thanks.

2002-10-07 Thread Annie Young

Bill Kingsbury, Rosalind Nelson, Terrill Brown, formerly Eva Young who
recently moved North, and myself were also southsiders who made it to
NE. I never saw Wizard as noted in Craig's post. And I met some folks from
the list and don't know which side of town they live on. I bet there were
others from the south since we were all never together in one place. I bet
there were even list folks there who never found anyone in the group
because we don't know each others faces - only our signatures from the
list. Oh well - this will improve next time around. I was really surprised
Jim Graham wasn't there - I know he likes to party.
