Re: Debugging Help on OS/390 Needed
I am afraid that it is not a DB2 problem. It is a problem with a developer not understanding the concepts and rules governing a logical unit of work in a CICS transaction. Cheers... Jim Nuckolls Jim Ford wrote: I posted a question to the list last week about help in debugging a CICS app that's having problems. More than anything else, I was venting my spleen. But since I posted it, I thought I'd post the cause of the problem, now that I've found it. The top level program in the problem transaction inserted some data into DB2. Down in the fourth layer of called programs, a subroutine put a message on a queue and waited for a response. The program that got the message off the queue, in some circumstances, needed access to the data inserted by the first program in the transaction. But that data wasn't committed, so the two programs could be stuck in a deadlock. Eventually the program waiting for a response would get a 2033, and abort. At that point the getting program would get access to the DB2 data it needed and faithfully send the reply (the reply that no one wanted any more). The other issue was that while this was going on, more responsible messages were backing up in the queue, leading to the general feeling of slowness in the application. So now the developers responsible for this mess are saying it's a DB2 problem. But I'm not a DBA, so it's not my problem any more. In the meantime, I'm keeping several of those getting transactions running so that if one message gets stuck it won't jam up everything. Re: Receiver Channel - Paused Status
You could STOP the RCVR, alter the Message Retry parameters to 0, and then start up the channel. The MCA would then immediately start offloading the messages that it couldn't put to the destination queue to the DLQ as fast as possible, where the DLH would tell you which queue was the problem. You would then need to run your DL handler (or use MO71's move message feature) to replay the messages to the real queue, once the original problem has been fixed. -Original Message- From: Herd, Stewart [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Tuesday, July 20, 2004 6:43 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: Receiver Channel - Paused Status We tried to stop, reset and start the channels but receiver channel stayed in 'paused' state..the error logs did not give much information and there are so many possible destination queues to check for QDEPTH that is was a needle in a haystack, sorry I cant provide more detail but thanks to all who replied Stewart -Original Message- From: MQSeries List [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Simon Wiltshire Sent: Tuesday, July 20, 2004 11:18 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: Receiver Channel - Paused Status I think we just increased the queue depths and stopped/started the channels, did the error logs give you any indication as to why it was paused? Copying OAM data to a new queue manager.
I am duplicating a WMQ5.3 queue manager on AIX5.2. I need to capture the authorizations on the original queue manager and write them to a file that I can then run on the new machine to duplicate the authorizations. I see at least two support packs that were written to do that, but they are for WMQ5.2. Has anyone used them for WMQ5.3? do they work? I remember when 5.2 was released, the way OAM data was handled changed significantly. I don't think anything changed in 5.3, but I am not sure. downloading MO71 support pac....
Hi After having read so many positive things recently about the MO71 support pac, I decided to download it and take a look. But of course, it is never that easy :) As I am trying to download it by clicking on the link, I get the license acceptance window which I respond to accept, then I get a Not Authorized page ?!?!?!?!?!??!?!? I have only done this about a million times over the years (although it has been a while since the last) and never had this happen. Has something changed that I missed?!? Any clues about what I can do to download this support pac?!?!? Re: Copying OAM data to a new queue manager.
Hi Bill, I am doing exactly that right now as part of building ourD RP servers. I use: amqoamd -m QmgrName -s filenamedmpmqaut -m QmgrName 2 filename The first one creates the setmqaut commands. This is all you need. The second one dumps the authority, which I don't really need, but I like the format the authority is displayed. Re: Very Basic VMS questions
Hi Dave, Thank you so much for your help. My biggest problem was not being able to get into thecorrect directory.Turns out you do that with the command "SET DEFAULT directoryName".Looks like the MQ version is 2.2... Best regards, Ruzi"Awerbuch, David (CALYON)" [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Ruzi, You're in luck. I am still 100% up to date on my VMS skills, with my client's applications now on Alpha after shutting down the VAXen. 1. Please be careful that you either 'type' the file (command 'type/page' would paginate it for you) or that you edit the file readonly (use /readonly command line option), and be VERY, VERY careful that you do not WRITE the file back; you must quit the edit session. 2. Sample Program The command interpreter for VMX - called DCL - allows you to create what is called a foreign symbol. A foreign symbol is the proper way to execute a program from the command line and pass it parameters. This foreign symbol must be defined prior to its first use. You can define it in your LOGIN.COM (which is run when you login), logout, login again, and the symbol will be available for the remainder oflogin session. Or, you can create a command procedure to define the symbol. So, for example, if the sample programs are located in SYS$COMMON:[SYSHLP.EXAMPLES.MQSERIES.BIN] (which is where they are on my system), you could create a small file called "define_amqsbcg.com" and code the following: $! define the foreign symbol for amqsbcg $ amqsbcg=="$ SYS$COMMON:[SYSHLP.EXAMPLES.MQSERIES.BIN]amqsbcg" Then you would run this file by issuing the command '@mqbin' at the command prompt: VAXNODE:userid$ @define_amqsbcg Once symbol amqsbcg has been defined the first time at each login session, you could then run it directly from the command line: VAXNODE:userid$ amqsbcg test.q qm1 3) WMQ Version I have always found the best place to look is SYS$HELP. Issue this command: $ dir sys$help:*mq* The list should include a file called 'mqseriesXXYY.release_notes'; XX is the major version, YY is the monitor version (XX=05, YY=01 means you are running 5.1). There may also be a series of files names 'mqseriesXXYY_ecoNN.release_notes'. NN is the ECO (CSD) number; the highest number listed is your current CSD level. On my system here, I get MQSERIES0510.RELEASE_NOTES;1 11 26-APR-2001 17:40:04.81 MQSERIES0510_ECO02.RELEASE_NOTES;1 47 4-AUG-2003 10:28:54.65 which means I am running 5.1 CSD 2. Trying to read message off queue by Correlid in JAVA using JMS
I am running a Java application that reads messages from MQ 5.3 using JMS I want to read by CorrelationID until the last message, then close The only way I have been able to make it work is to invoke createReceiver every time, then close it as demo'd below. This has significant performance implications Apparently the variable get_corl_id is set at create time and is not picked up for the next read, so I have to create it again with the new corlid Is anyone aware of a way to read by corlid without creating and closing the receiver? qReceiver = qSession.createReceiver(myQ, get_corl_id); try { receiveOne = (TextMessage)qReceiver.receive(mqWaitTime); received = receiveOne.getText(); }.. qReceiver.close(); Chip Hannigan Middleware Hartford Life Plymouth 763-765-4846 Woodbury 651-738-4213 mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] * PRIVILEGED AND CONFIDENTIAL: This communication, including attachments, is for the exclusive use of addressee and may contain proprietary, confidential and/or privileged information. WebSphere MQ v5.3 Pre-Requisites
Greetings We are installing WebSphere MQ v5.3 on Windows 2000. For software prerequisites it requires Java 1.3 or higher. The installaion program even has a button to install Java. It installs Java 1.4. Unfortunatly the installation program still fails to detect Java. We checked and noticed classpath was not updated, we changed this, rebooted and still the installation program does not recognize Java. We have a similar problem with WBI MB (MQ Integrator) v5.0. Installation requires a certain patch level for Windows 2000. We have the latest which is much higher then requested but the installtion program does not recognize the prerequisites are being met. Any ideas. Re: WebSphere MQ v5.3 Pre-Requisites
Verify manually that you have the correct JAVA, and then ignore the fact that the Install package can't recognize that fact. I always install the JVM from the MQ Install disk, reboot, and go on. -Original Message- From: Jeff A Tressler [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Tuesday, July 20, 2004 3:33 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: WebSphere MQ v5.3 Pre-Requisites Greetings We are installing WebSphere MQ v5.3 on Windows 2000. Hi Dan, Have you tried to right click on the zip file and save target as? But of course, it is never that easy :) As I am trying to download it by clicking on the link, I get the license acceptance window which I respond to accept, then I get a Not Authorized page ?!?!?!?!?!??!?!? I have only done this about a million times over the years (although it has been a while since the last) and never had this happen. Has something changed that I missed?!? Any clues about what I can do to download this support pac?!?!?
