AW: MQ Administrator (mo71)

2004-09-15 Thread Kleinmanns, Hubert
Yan,

you should configure the tool as follows:

MAIN window:

1. Location: Any name (I generally use the queue manager name).

2. Queue Manager: Name of the target queue manager (in your case
"QM_COVMSG1").

3. QM group: Fill this field, when ou want to arrange your queue managers in
groups. You may have a tree view then.

3. Network Names: Leave it empty, the ip/port of the target queue manager is
defined later. This is NOT a channel definition to the target queue manager!

4. Via QM: Leave it empty, when you use client connections.

5. Reply Queue: SYSTEM.DEFAULT.MODEL.QUEUE is ok, this creates temporary
queues during accessing the target queue manager.

6. Command Queue: SYSTEM.ADMIN.COMMAND.QUEUE is ok.

7.Server queue: Leave it empty.

8.Client: Checked is ok.

Client "Configured" pop up:

9. Click on "Channel Name" and type in "SYSTEM.ADMIN.SVRCONN"

10. Click on "Connection Name" and type in the address of the target queue
manager (what you typed before in the field "Network Names", in your case
"10.68.1.63(1414)").

The steps above should work, if other prerequisites are ok (channel exists,
command server is running, user is permitted).

Regards
Hubert

the mo71 support pack does not install a client for you. you have to do that
separately. You said you have a JAVA app that connects just fine, I assume
you mean from the same machine the support pack in on but I can't be sure.

Yan,

May be you should try using the client sample program to test it out first.
Try set the MQSERVER variable with the same information (channels, qmgr,
connection, port,..) and use the sample client program amqsbcgc to browse a
queue to ensure the definitions are there first.

Ian

Does the queue manager you want to administrate have the
SYSTEM.ADMIN.SVRCONN defined? that is not a default object, you have to
create it.

I try to use the MQ Administrator to manage the queue manager on unix box.

I don't have a local queue manager, I would like to set up using the client
option.
Here is my configuration on the screen:

1. Queue Manager : QM_COVMSG1 ( this is the queue manager on the unix
box)
2. QM group: empty
3. Network Names: 10.68.1.63 (1414) ( this is the ip/port the unix mq ) 4.
Via QM (empty, as I don't want to use a local q mgr ) 5. Reply Queue:
SYSTEM.DEFAULT.MODEL.QUEUE 6. Command Queue: SYSTEM.ADMIN.COMMAND.QUEUE
7.Server queue: (empty) 8.Client : checked 9. on Client configured pop up:
I
typed SYSTEM.ADMIN.SVRCONN, it always
say:
please enter a valid value for ...

And my q mgr's command server is running.

It always give me Error connecting via client to 'QM_COVMSG1' RC(2059) QMgr
not available.

I have a java program which can connect/put/retrieve messages from the same
desk top to the same unix box just fine.

Would you please help me out?

Thanks you very much!

Ok, you mentioned you do not have a local queue manager on the machine you
are doing the remote admin from. Do you have the client installed there?

the mo71 support pack does not install a client for you. you have to do
that separately. You said you have a JAVA app that connects just fine, I
assume you mean from the same machine the support pack in on but I can't be
sure.
