RE: [mssms] Static DPs

2017-05-17 Thread Richard Poole
Thanks, and I have them checking into their management point fine with the
entry but can’t seem to find a method of telling these workgroup PCs which DPs
to go to without relying on the MP to give them a list…a list that’s going to
come from SCCM’s supported boundaries, which can’t be done due to the
conflicting IP ranges in the two separated networks. Else each side is going to
get info at some point about going to DPs that it really shouldn’t.

Thank you,
Richard Poole

single hierarchy instead of setting up multiple sites. Setting up boundaries

there’s a simple solution, that I just can’t find with my Google-Fu, to
statically set the MP and DP for systems? Or would this just be as easy as
adding entries into the LMHOST?

Thanks in advance,

[mssms] RE: 1702 Express Install Files

2017-05-17 Thread Enley, Carl
Yes thanks for the reply, I see some threads on technet as well as
systemcenterdudes forum. I guess a lot of people are not using this feature
yet. ☹ No response from MS yet that I can find.

Yep, seems to be an acknowledged issue. Seems the range requests are not quite
right in some way which is resulting in slow downloads..
Couple of similar stories on Technet forums too so you are not alone 

Is anyone using this feature in SCCM 1702? I was really looking forward to
getting this up and running after the 1702 upgrade but I am a little
disappointed with the results I am seeing.

I understand the initial download is larger and I am okay with that, my patch
package jumped from 13.1GB to nearly 44GB so the 2-3X size increase was pretty
accurate. My issue is the time that it is taking to install the cumulative
update, it is taking almost 3+ hours on my test machines. The machines are all
W10 1607 with the latest April update applied, everything in the log files
(deltadownload.log) indicates all is well and they are using the express files
to install. It just takes forever to apply the update.

Is anyone else experiencing very long install times using the express install
files? I am going to test a 1703 machine today to see if it makes any
difference.

Thanks
Carl

[mssms] Application Install Only Failing During OSD

2017-05-17 Thread Morris, Spencer
I'm trying to install Symantec Enterprise Vault in an OSD task sequence. My
batch file is this: msiexec.exe /i "%~dp0Symantec Enterprise Vault Outlook
Add-in.msi" /qn /norestart

This was working before Office 365 was added into the image. The only errors I
can find are in smsts.log: "Installation failed with error (0x80070643)" and in
event viewer: Product: Symantec Enterprise Vault Outlook Add-in 11.0.1.3474 --
Error 1921. Service 'Windows Search' (WSearch) could not be stopped. Verify
that you have sufficient privileges to stop system services.

I also tried stopping the windows search service, installing the application
and then starting the service with no luck as well.

This application installs find when deployed to a computer outside of OSD.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks in advance.
-Spencer

[mssms] Expired updates being removed from SCCM

2017-05-17 Thread Heaton, Joseph@Wildlife
I'm assuming that I set something up incorrectly, but I'm noticing that all
Expired updates are just gone from SCCM. The problem with this, is that I
can't give historical stats on previous months' update deployments. And, I
can't go searching for compliance on the March, Security Monthly Quality
Rollup...

Anyone know off-hand what setting I messed up?
