Is there any reason why this would be difficult? I mean, more difficult
 than dumping a MegaROM.

Really, I love it! And Compass 2.0 will be -- HOLY --, faster
assembling,
 better shell, better debugging...).

Sounds interesting. Where can I find it?

Turbo-R with European keyboard

2000-03-10 Thread Pierre Gielen

Well, if you want a MSX Turbo R with an European keyboard you may do the
 following:

SNIP

and finally, redraw all keys of the MSX Turbo R.

I was thinking about connecting an external keyboard, although I'm not sure
yet about how that could be done (use Padials interface? but that uses up a
cartridge slot; maybe design my own interface? that would be good for an MSX
with a connecter for an external keyboard, like the Philips NMS machines,
but the Turbo R would have to be dismantled).

BTW does anybody know a solution for the problem that the 11*8 switches of
the keyboard matrix would have to be emulated in a PC keyboard interface for
MSX? It would take 22 IC's of the type CD4016 or CD4066 (they take up too
much space and too much power). Maybe a MT8812 array will work. I don't know
yet.

Pierre

Re: Replacing RTC battery?

2000-03-10 Thread Pierre Gielen

I've got a problem which is much alike.
I replaced the accu, but they didn't have one alike so I got an 1.2V accu
and a 2.4V accu to replace it. I did it, and now it remembers the screen
settings, however, the clock is still confused...

No solution yet. I've bought a new crystal which I'll solder in this
weekend. Althought I don't think that's the problem, but who knows...

Not that it is really a big problem (the screensettings were the worst)

I think it IS a big problem since:
1. The MAKEFILE utility for C will not function properly unless the source
files are saved with the correct date and time;
2. Keeping track of versions of a file is difficult enough as it is, even
when you do have the correct save date and time.
3. Some programs use the clock as a timer (since JIFFY can change from 50 to
60 Hz and it is impractical for timing minutes or hours).

A very weird idea is:
cut all track on the film of the keyboard and remake the connection using copper
wire or anything else.
And put a single IC.
:-)

Then don't send it to the MSX list :-)

who cares! I'm related to this list.. consider gizmozone as muzax 4...
happy?

Making the topic somewhat MSX related:
*.MBM/*.MFM - *.IXS?? Is it possible? Will it be possible? 'Coz it
definately would be nifty!
And considering GizmoZone as Muzax4? I'd rather see a full-fledged
*.ixs-disk as "Muzax4". But I'm happy ^_^
