I haven't seen the PC-Engine and Playstation ones though... I personally like Castlevania 2 for NES (great action/adventure combination) and Castlevania 4 for SNES (great whip movement!) the most. Also Castlevania Bloodlines/The New Generation/Vampire Killer(yes! In japan called VAMPIRE KILLER) for Genesis is kinda nice... Ofcourse there are only idea's now, why wouldn't that be "serious"? Funny you mention 'another dimensional plane', because one of my ideas was that the castle of Dracula had several doors, each leading to another dimension. The posibilities for scenario are huge when you take that in account. I have downloaded the PC version of Prince of Persia... argh! It can be better on a MSX2!! I have played with the Macintosh version (yes, yes... me, using a mac... sorry ;)... at least, when I used it, Mac was not related to Microsoft...), and the Mac version is infinitely better than PC version.
