This option does not exist in 1.5.9 and this weird behaviour is
since I was switching from 1.5.6 (under Woody) to 1.5.9 (Sarge).

I still occasionally see this as well, though it is not related to
IMAP (I don't use IMAP); not sure what triggers it, but there is a
tendency that when it happens, it happens more than once around the
same time...

Here it works like it should. I use muttng and mutt on Debian Etch.
Reading a mail it is placed in /tmp. All readed mails from a Mailbox
(here IMAP dovecot) stays in /tmp until i changed to another Mailbox.
Then the old Temp-Mails are deleted.

:~$ LANG=C mutt -D|grep cache
header_cache="/var/local/gerhard/mutt/cache/"
maildir_header_cache_verify is unset
header_cache_pagesize="16384"
message_cachedir=""

Check your color and spam settings. You might have used something there
that triggers to fetch the whole message.
Adjust imap_headers as needed.

Hmm, from the manual it seems that that should be the answer, but
strangely it looks like it's already turned off:

[EMAIL PROTECTED] ~ 3%  mutt -D |grep message_cachedir
message_cachedir=""

Since both myself and the OP are using Debian packages, perhaps it's
related to that. Any other Debian and IMAP users care to comment?

Thanks?

Nick.

This sounds like the body cache is in effect... To set the
directory where the files go, configure message_cachedir.

To turn it off, set message_cachedir to "".

Sorry, I can't help but I can let you know that you aren't alone: I see
the exact same thing.

Anyone know what is going on here?

I think you need to define it in your .muttrc Eg.
set tmpdir="~/.tmp"

I'm using 1.5.13-1.1 from Sid.

mutt does not delete TMP files

2007-02-05 Thread Michelle Konzack
Hello,

I have found an Error in mutt while using IMAP and connecting to courier.

If I enter a Mailfolder with mails, mutt does not only fetch the desired
headers but the whole NEW messages...

And more, while using imap. mut does not more respect $TMP, $TMPDIR,
$TEMP or $TEMPDIR and write to /tmp thousands of files...
   ...and does not delete it!

I have encountered the problem as mutt was not more able to save messages
because I hit the "out of inode" problem (arround 38.000)

I use Debian Sarge/Etch/Sid and the versions 1.5.9 and 1.5.13

Greetings
Michelle Konzack
