i take the simpliest emojis, put them into the task caption and perform a 
cloud sync to check if they work.

[MLO] How to exclude text from parsing?

When we enter task names with numbers mlo will try to parse them.
How to avoid it?

unpair it and try to create a new connection from iphone.

the wifi-router.

Be sure to save the view after editing in the main window. Then re-open the 
dashboard to see if the completed tasks have disappeared.

1) You can recover from the backup files (make a copy of all backup-files 
before proceeding).
Step-by-step guide for recovering from the backup file. 


2) If that fails, please write to support 
 directly.

Please find and make a copy of the data file first.
It is a file with "ml" extension. Search for it and copy it to a safe place.

*backups*
Search for backups which MLO creates on regulary basis. 
Here is a step-by-step guide. 


*run a copy of mlo application*
Run the portable version of MLO 
. Try to open the 
data file and if it fails, open the backup file.
*(from help guide: ...the backup file has the same name as a data file has 
but with .bak extension. Open this file with MLO application and select 
"Save as.." to save your data in .ml format.)*

1) select a task
Go to edit task properties panel. 
Go to reccurence settings >  advanced options
See if the *completed copy* checkmark is enabled/disabled
2) toggle the "show completed tasks" checkmark on the toolbar.

[MLO] Re: simple way to move task up/down, convert between task and subtask

here is a script which adds 2 custom key combinations for* moving the task 
to the top of the list*, and another one for* moving the task to the bottom 
of the list*.
To use it, install autohotkey from here: AutoHotkey 

Then create a file with ahk extension, exemple:   *myfirstscript.ahk*
Paste into that file the following lines of code (only the green color 
text):
save the file *myfirstscript.ahk.*
Double click on it to execute it.
Then go to MLO. select a task at the bottom of the list. Press Alt Shift 
PageUp to move it to the top of the list.
Also, to move a task to the bottom, press the combination Alt Shift PageDown
.

the help file says that the hierarchical filter may add parent tasks to the 
tasks which we already have filtered.
instead, it affects the display of the filtered tasks. strange behaviour.

tested on android.

As far as i remember, the pocket mode should display the views exactly as 
they are configured in MLO.
If you don't see the completed tasks in MLO, but they still appear in the 
Pocket mode, that means that the Views has not been saved.

[MLO] Re: MLO for Windows freezes temporarily since latest version installed

Here are some things that may cause the issue:
1) clipboard managers, or text transliteration apps, or any app that could 
interact with the text while you are typing.
2) Is MLO profile (ml file) stored on a cloud storage like dropbox
3) A huge MLO profile which syncs very slowly with the cloud while you are 
typing.

By the way, try to look at the CPU load when you add tasks to MLO. Maybe 
you have some CPU intensive app running in the backround.

Here is a better solution
Replace the following text 

 +Insert::
  send, {NumpadUp}
  send, {Ins}
 return

with this one:
 ; Press Shift+Enter key combination to save the task and move it up one 
line
 +enter::
  send +!{Up}
 return

The use scenario is the following:
Create a new task (press Ins key, or the Toolbar button).
And instead of pressing Enter to save it, press Shift Enter.
That will save the new task, and will move it one line up.

customized:

1) Inside of the task property pane: 
If it's not visible, press Alt+ F2 or go to Menu View > Task Parameters > 
Format.
Find there the Format group. 
Select the W-IOT task.
Click More > Highlight tab > *Side Bar color*

2) Automatic formatting
Tools > Options > Automatic Formatting

3) Themes
Tools > Options > Themes and formatting

there is an option in the outlook sync settings which deletes all tasks from 
outlook which are not visible in the above view.

Tested a little bit more.  Unfortunately, folder names are also erased. 

Some emoji like ❤✔ are synced to cloud without issues (MLOwin-to-cloud, 
cloud-to-MLOandroid).

I use a lot of emoji in the task names, and due to rhe problem reported in 
this thread, I am forced to keep this mlo profile away from cloud, which 
affects my productivity.

[MLO] Re: Repeating tasks - how to automatically reset star

+1 for this feature.

It is also possible to use autoformatting rules to hide the task name (by 
assigning a white text color).
Thus, all recurring and starred tasks, which have a start date in the 
feature are still displaying but they are less disturbing due to an 
invisible task name.

I am using (Ctrl+Shift) + ArrowLeft to select the last words(s). Then 
Backspace to delete it.

[MLO] android: choose sync-technique

hi

do you mean the following?: when you press the sync button you always see a 
prompt to choose between wifi and cloud. right?

I'm on Android.
 WiFi sync is not configured. When i press the sync button, the app begins to 
sync. I don't see request to choose between wifi and cloud. It's always 
syncing, without any additional steps. Please double check that the wifi sync 
is completely disabled.

[MLO] Question about focussing using Starred tasks

I had the same issue using the default starred view.
What I did: I hide the starred recurring tasks which have a start date in the 
future using autoformatting rulles.
By hiding I mean: I change the task color to white. So it is still in the view 
but it is not disturbing me.
The advantage of this method is that you can use it without changing the view.

PS sometimes instead of coloring into white I color them in light grey and make 
them italic.  This they a slightly visible but also not disturbing.

Other ideas:
 Are you using a backup app, which by mistake, rewrites/restores your ml file?

 Is your ml file stored on Dropbox/other cloud system?

Do you always open the same mlo file on desktop? Maybe you open an older 
file/dupplicated one?

Also please check on iOS side: do you have one or multiple mlo profiles?

see such settings.

Check the Windows sound settings. There you can disable "click" sounds or

to rename: right mouse click on tab > setup workspace

to identify which view is used: right mouse click> assign icon> current 
view icon

new tabs are opening automaticaly when you switch the view inside of a 
locked tab (tab with locked view). Thus, if you don't want new tabs to 
appear without your control, check the exisiting tab settings. i guess some 
of them (maybe the one which u use more often) has a locked view (right 
click>lock default in this tab is enabled).

if you wish to save space by hiding tabs and everything else above them, 
you can move them beyond the desktop top border.
here is an autohotkey script for that:

[MLO] What Formula Is Used for the Active Tasks List

I guess the computed score is used to sort them. Tasks with higher value are at 
top.
If tasks have the same computed score, then they are sorted according to the 
place in hierarchy.

The computed score formula is described in the MLO for Windows manual.

the grey icons are the default for mlo v5.
the color icons come from mlo v4.

Here is a solution. Before trying please make a backup of your ML files.
The idea is to copy the tasks from the black-icons-profile to the profile 
with color icons.

*step 1.* Run MLO. Go to Tools/Options/Behaviour --> Check Allow Multiple 
Instances.
thus you'll be able to run 2 mlo instances at the same time.
*step 2.* Open the ML file with color icons and save it to "new Work 
profile with color icons.ml".
*step 3*. Delete all tasks from it.
*step 4.* Open the ML file with gray icons. Ctrl+A to select all tasks. 
Copy them.
*step. 5. *Paste the task to "new Work profile with color icons.ml".

That's it. Continue to use "new Work profile with color icons.ml" instead 
of the old work profile with grey icons.

I have reproduced on my xiaomi phone. Android 8.1.
What I did: nothing special. Just used Google Assistant.

Sometimes I see the same behavior as you (the note is saved  to the proprietary 
app) and sometimes it is saving using mlo.

Observation:
I have a feeling that Android phones have 2 Google Assistant apps with 2 
different voices and different functionality. The first Google Assistant can 
add notes only to the proprietary app while the second can add notes to 
different apps.
Their voices are really different.

Suggestion:
Please add the Google Assistant search bar to the home screen and manually 
trigger the Google Assistant by pressing the bar. Do not say ok Google, just 
tap the search bar.
I hope this time Google Assistant will offer you to choose mlo.

try to install another note taking app like google keep or evernote.

Then try again to add a note with Google Assistant.
I hope this time you'll be asked which app to use.
Choose MLO then delete the recently installed apps.
