My MacBook Air arrives tomorrow and I will attempt to leave Windows
behind after nearly 30 years as my main desktop. Work rules mean no option
to run it as a VM with Windows.I found some old entries on the forum from 2
years ago, which suggested that it was possible to get it working.
 Interested in more recent experience.

[MLO] Re: Running MLO Desktop on Mac OSX

2016-11-29 Thread Stéph
Hello Shaig,

The insert and alt-insert shortcuts are actually hotkeys, which can be
reassigned under the Tools-Options menu selection. Does this hotkey
assignment list not work when you're using it on a Mac?

[MLO] Re: Running MLO Desktop on Mac OSX

2016-11-29 Thread shaig
Hey guys,
I'm trying to set up MLO on a mac and figured I'd bump up this post instead
of making a new one.
I got MLO working (with WineBottler, on El Capitan) but I can't find a way
to get any keys on the mac keyboard to behave like the windows insert key
on MLO. And I make very heavy use of the insert and alt-insert shortcuts.

Any solution to this? Either a way to change the key binding or a way to
send "insert" to MLO is great.

Thanks!

The simplest solution I've come up with is running it on a VM using
VirtualBox. I have a simple lightweight Win7 install that does nothing but
run MLO. In seamless mode it's pretty nice.

Couple questions for you:
How's this running for you since your last update?
Why the need for the IE7 bit?

[MLO] Re: Running MLO Desktop on Mac OSX

2015-09-19 Thread Steve.S
Update on current experience using MLO on OSX 10.10 under Wine on a MacBook
Air (early 2015). Using the instructions in the forum as far back as 2010,
I have MLO 4.3.3 running under both CrossOver and WineSkin. I've finally
settled on WineSkin as my preferred choice.

MLO works fine under CrossOver 14.1.6. I had to add IE7 to the bottle. All
works fine including cloud sync. My only gripe is that display fonts are
not quite right, with the kerning being too tight and making the text hard
to read. Tried many combinations of Display DPI and fonts and finally
settled on one which made it readable, but was not great.

My preference is WineSkin Winery 2.6.0 with WS9Wine1.7.51. Added msxml3 and
msxml4 and IE7 using WineTricks from the Advanced/Utils dialog. Fonts and
readability are fine out of the box. Just increased the default font size
in MLO/Options from the default. CloudSync is a little slow, but works
fine. WineSkin is not quite as slick as CrossOver in that there are several
processes running in the background with aggregations of MLO and Wine in
their titles, but for saving £40 its a minor irritation.
