Problem in using MySQLGUI 1.7.5-2
Hi, I'm Edison Xavier. I have installed the MySQL 3.23.52 on an RedHat 8.0. In the local client (running on the same machine as the server) I can connect using any registered user like this: mysql -u xavier -p This connection occours perfectly. I have installed the MySQLGUI 1.7.5-2 on my workstation running Win2000 Professional. I have setting on the Options the user xavier on the Client parameters and the IP and port of the server running the mysqld in the Server parameters. When I select the Connect button and I write my password (for xavier), the message appears on the bottom: Lost connection to MySQL server during query The log of the firewall betwen this connection show-me this deny packets: packet TCP from client to port 139 server packet TCP from client to port 445 server Is this correct?? The port 3306 is free for forwarding and don´t denied. Thanks a lot Edison Xavier [EMAIL PROTECTED] ___ Yahoo! If you have problems follow instructions from the README, that comes with both source and binary distro. Select the ``Server'' tab and fill in the fields that indicate where to find the server. On Unix, if you have problems with mysqlgui not knowing the location of the socket file for connections to localhost, enter the full pathname of the socket file in the ``SQL command on the start-up'' field. On Windows, this field is used if you wish to specify the named pipe option. Then select the ``Client'' tab and fill in your MySQL user name. Take care to select the right value for the ``Ask for password'' button, depending on whether or not you want mysqlgui to prompt you for your MySQL password. After you have filled in the server and client values, click on the ``Save'' button. From then on, each time mysqlgui starts up, it will connect to the MySQL server automatically. -- Regards, __ ___ ___ __ / |/ /_ __/ __/ __ \/ /Mr. Sinisa Milivojevic [EMAIL PROTECTED] / /|_/ / // /\ \/ /_/ / /__ MySQL AB, FullTime Developer /_/ /_/\_, /___/\___\_\___/ Larnaca, Cyprus ___/ www.mysql.com - Before posting, please check: http://www.mysql.com/manual.php (the manual) http://lists.mysql.com/ (the list archive) To request this thread, e-mail [EMAIL PROTECTED] To unsubscribe, e-mail [EMAIL PROTECTED] Trouble unsubscribing? Is mysqlgui capable of connecting to the mysqld daemon via a unix socket, or must it use the network. Mysqlgui appears to ignore the 'socket' option in the my.cnf file. Hi! Your two problems are easily explained. You do not have edfile.o, because you have not built fl_editor. Second, 2.95.3 has some serious problems with STL libraries, that is why I suggest you downgrade to 2.95.2.
