Re: [mythtv-users] Anyone using a serial irblaster on 2.6.14?
I'm using 2.6.14-gentoo-r4 and lirc-0.7.3pre1. I used --with-transmitter and --with-driver=serial in my configure script. Did you make sure to use the following line somewhere in your startup scripts? /bin/setserial /dev/ttyS0 uart none If you did or that doesn't get it working, I will send you my kernel .config offlist. The drivers load without complaint, lircd starts fine, and irsend completes without error, but the channel won't change. The only thing I could find on google is some other poor guy who's lirc_serial device stopped working when he tried to upgrade past 0.7.1/2.6.9 or thereabouts. If anyone has channel chaning working on an new-ish kernel, could you send me your .config file, and what version of lirc you are using? smime.p7s Description: S/MIME Cryptographic Signature ___ mythtv-users mailing list mythtv-users@mythtv.org http://mythtv.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/mythtv-users
Re: [mythtv-users] vga to component converters
I'm very interested in this as well. I don't have HDTV, but a Sony Wega with component. I understand that's different from HDTV component but not sure in what way and if that affects what transcoders I can use? The Geforce card linked below would be an awesome, low cost option if it will work. Re: [mythtv-users] X10 Lola RF remote replacement?
I had the exact same problem with the joystick, they seem to be made rather shoddily. I briefly experimented with the receiver with a few other remotes and never did get it to receive IR signals. I think the IR only refers to the IR transmitter on the remote for use with other IR devices and the LED is purely that. I'm unsure about any of the other questions. HTH. Jason Ramey Joseph A. Caputo wrote: Hey all, - is it possible to get a replacement RF remote compatible with this receiver (I think it's just a re-branded ATI RF receiver?) - will this receiver operate over IR as well as RF (there seems to be a little LED/diode thingy on the front of it...) Re: [mythtv-users] FW: New Source Forge Project MythStreamTV
Modify /var/www/mythweb/themes/Default/mythstreamtv_createfile.php on about line 34 to make the stream link work. 8080 was fine for me. I had the same problems with video but no audio, I had to install ffmpeg & vlc from source instead of using the debian packages. It took a bit, I had alot of problems with libpostproc (which appears to come with both mplayer & ffmpeg) but eventually got those worked out. I used ffmpeg CVS & vlc-0.8.1. Re: [mythtv-users] Adding extra recorder disk space for Christmas !
One thing to remember with XFS, particularly for short-term storage, is that XFS partitions cannot be shrank, only enlarged. I'm running into this problem right now on my myth box, I want to re-allocate some space to another partition. William wrote: This is just my opinion, your milage may vary. The way I would add the extra drive is to add the drive and then create a LVM. Add the new drive to the LVM and then transfer all your files to the new drive. Once the old drive is empty you can reformat it and add it to the LVM. That is how I added a second drive to my system. Once everything is transfered change the recording location to your new drive group. I see you are using ext3, you will probably get a decent improvement in performance if you set up your LVM with either xfs or jfs. Both of those handle large files better than ext3. Re: [mythtv-users] Problem with wife-friendly feature
Precisely, you would want to launch irexec as the user running myth. I just have irexec -d ~/.mythtv/lircrc in my .xsession before I execute mythfrontend and fluxbox. The .kde/AutoStart symlink wasn't working because your lircrc wasn't anywhere that irexec would look for it by default. -- Jason Ramey [EMAIL PROTECTED] Jarod Wilson wrote: I don't know if having irexec running from rc.local might cause the frontend to attempt launching as root, causing some sort of odd auth problem... Re: [mythtv-users] *Remote* remote control
Couldn't you use the built-in client/server architecture of LIRC to accomplish this? Have a local lircd or WinLIRC (which a quick google seems to verify will do it as well) server running with an IR receiver that connects to a lircd on your primary frontend. You said across the network so I assume you have a PC in the same room as the TV. I know for a fact that it works well lircd to lircd. I used a laptop's IR port connecting to the frontend across ethernet. The dicey part is whether WinLIRC supports it. My apologies if I misunderstood your intentions. -- Jason Ramey [EMAIL PROTECTED] Jonathan Markevich wrote: Here's another pie-in-the-sky request. Is there some kind of way I can control the frontend machine through the network? We're currently in a rather spread-out place, and sometimes I'd like to watch tv and programs another floor away. The frontend and backend are all on the same machine, and the output from that is piped all over the house. LIRC seems to be able to signal the app to do things, is there some way to extend that even more? ___ mythtv-users mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://mythtv.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/mythtv-users

I'll make a guess that you have your encoder setup for v4l instead of mpeg2 in the initial mythtv-setup. Looks like it's trying to use a software encoder instead of the hardware encoder. Re-run mythtv-setup (clearing your settings when it asks) and set the capture for mpeg2 instead of v4l.
