[mythtv-users] Card recommendation request and cable question.

2005-08-22 Thread Mark Gordon

*I am looking to setup a MythTV machine (2nd attempt)
Has anyone used this card:
*AVerMedia M150 PCI Interface M150 Media Center Edition 2005 PCI TV
Tuner - OEM
It is only 55.00 bucks compared to the PVR-250 costing $130.Any
recommendations?

One thing I don't yet understand. After I get my myth machine running
on my monitor what device/cable do I then need to get connect my system
to my TV? Does the sound continue to play via the speakers on my
system or do I need to pass the audio to TV?

I am a software developer but as you can probably tell I don't know much
about audio and video.

Thanks,
Mark

[mythtv-users] Zap2it question.

2005-08-22 Thread Mark Gordon
From what I have gathered Zap2it provides all the tv listings for the
US users of MythTV?
Is there is no cost of this service?
I have heard that Zap2it includes some kind of advertising with the
data, is this true and if so is it obtrusive in anyway?

[mythtv-users] Number of channels.

2005-08-01 Thread Mark Gordon

I am gathering parts to make a MythTV machine.

I noticed that the PVR-350 has a 125 channel cable ready tuner. I
currently have digital cable and premium channels are in the 220+
range. Will I be able to receive these changes or just up to 125?

As you can tell by this question, I am not very knowledgeable with
regards to TV/audio/video stuff. I am hoping to learn a bit in this
process.

Thanks,
Mark

The irblaster allows MythTV to change the channels on the cable box?

Then the connection goes ... Wall - Cable Box - MythTV - TV?

Thanks,
Mark

To get the channels above 125 you'll have to use your cable box. You'll
also need to buy or build a irblaster to change the channels.
